Symptoms of a bad dual water inlet valve include:

  • No water flow to the ice maker or water dispenser
  • Slow filling or low water pressure in the dispenser
  • Leaking water around the valve area
  • Ice maker not producing ice

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Dual Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM18031554)

Ellen for Model Number JFC 2089HEP

Hi, Water dispenser still not working after replacing every part possible. Ice Maker was also replaced and that's fine. I get one short burst of water out of the dispenser then it stops. I did replace the Water Inlet Valve already but perhaps it is a bad valve again. When checking across the connectors of each valve what should the ohms reading be? I get 246 ohms and 191 ohms. I am thinking the valve is faulty. Thoughts? How to Replace Dual Water Inlet Valve WP67006531 / AP6010515 #WP67006531

1 Answer

Ellen, Check the water valve for proper voltage when the dispenser is pressed. If you have power to the valve and it does not open the valve is bad.

Hello Donny, check the ice maker fill tube is in place, check the ice maker's fill cup is not out of place or cracked, if both ok likely it is a faulty water valve allowing too much water into the ice maker WP67006531.

Rob, the inlet tube going to the ice maker fill cup will need to be inspected for an ice blockage. If there is an ice blockage, the ice would need to be cleared and the valve WP67006531 would need to be replaced. If there is not an ice blockage, the ice maker would need tobe tested for 120VAC from terminal N to terminal V during a harvest cycle. If there is not voltage at the end of the harvest, the ice maker D7824706Q has failed. If there is, the valve has failed.

Brandon, Check the temperature in the freezer at the ice maker to be sure it is below 8°F. Then check the fill tube to make sure it is not frozen up. Then check the fill valve for the ice maker to see that it is working.

Infrequently when we try to dispense water, there is a vibrating noise and the water rate slows to a trickle. I can't determine where to noise is coming from. I've watched your videos to replace the dual water valve, water filter head and the micro switch behind the water/ice dispenser. We have run a lot of water through the dispenser so I don't think its air. Haven't seen any water leaks. Have also disconnected the filter and reattached several times. There is a pinhole stream of water coming from the filter head when the filter is removed. The filter is fairly new. Could it just be a bad filter? What parts should I replace first?

1 Answer

Cal, Based on your post information and description you should consider the WP67006524 / 67006524 Water Filter Head and Tube Assembly. If the bypass "fingers" are distorted or bent, etc. there can be a vibration inside the mechanism, and if the water is leaking from the filter head " There is a pinhole stream of water coming from the filter head when the filter is removed." there is a failure in the filter head.

Bob, it sounds like your inlet valve is letting water seep into the icemaker, therefore causing an ice blockage, you can replace the ice maker inlet valve, part number WP67006531 and it should take care of the problem.

Hello VBCH, The life of the water valve is dependent on the mineral deposits and sedimentation of the water supply and also the fact that the part is manmade has to be considered since man is not a perfect creature, (man cannot make a perfect part). This sounds like the water valve WP67006531 has failed again if no tubes or the water tank are frozen.

I recently replaced the dual water valve, and when I re-connected the piping, it would not fit properly. If I re mount the valve, it is under a strain and the discharge fittings drip. Can I re-shape this hard plastic piping hsing a heat gun or hair dryer to relieve the strain? Also, this valve and the previous one, it was very difficult to remove the piping. The collars on the valve are almost flush with the valve and won't move to release the piping. Thanks.

1 Answer

Norris, When removing the tubing you push in on the collar and then pull out as you are pushing. When reinstalling the tubing you have to make sure that you push the tubing in all the way. It will get to a stopping point where you think it is all the way in but may have to push a little harder to get it to fully seat. You do not want to reshape the part and you want to make sure that you have a straight cut off.
