The Gas Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens and ranges. It regulates the flow of gas to the oven burner, ensuring safe and efficient operation by controlling the amount of gas released for ignition and maintaining a steady flame during cooking.

Causes of a bad gas valve can include wear and tear from regular use, exposure to high temperatures, or damage from gas impurities.

Symptoms of a bad gas valve include:

  • The oven not heating or taking a long time to heat up
  • The smell of gas when the oven is turned on
  • Inconsistent or uneven heating
  • The oven failing to maintain the set temperature

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Gas Valve (Part Number: OEM18056706)

Ray M for Model Number SF362LXST0

Starting recently, neither the bake nor broil burners will light, while the stove burners all work fine. When the broil button is pushed, two clicks are heard at the broil igniter shortly thereafter, but I cannot see a spark. When the bake button is pushed, the clock countdown begins, but no clicks occur in the oven at the igniters. No flame shows up at all in the oven at either burner for either the bake or broil function. What is the most likely problem? Is there a way to check these spark igniters in the oven? Thank you.

Eric, You're pretty much on target, the DSI Spark Module WPW10331686 is the more likely problem. It's located in the control panel console, and supplies the high DC voltage to all the igniters including the bake and broil. If you have a multi meter the valve is an easy test, the valve has three terminals on top. The center terminal is the common terminal, between the center terminal and either of the outer terminals should have a resistance reading of 215 ohms resistance. If the resistance is in range the gas valve coils are OK and the valve should operate. The WPW10331686 DSI Spark Module is in stock and available at this time. Thanks

Guenthernet for Model Number GS460LEKT0

My gas range is 14 years old and converted to work with LPG. I have noticed a gas smell coming from the drawer/oven. Had the LPG tank company here. Passed line pressure test. Still there is a noticeable smell. The tech was able to detect that it comes out of the combo control unit/safety valve which is one part in this model. It doesn't have the little white cap that's shown in the product pics on your website for the Valve Gas (whirlpool-valve-gas-w10293048). Precisely that spot appears to be the leak. Is this a DIY job if I get the part for someone very handy, but no experience with gas lines? Is there any bit of the LPG conversion that is going on in this unit, too, that I would need to carry over if I inserted the new part? Worth it in a 14yo appliance? Thanks!!

Hello Guenthernet. You will need to order WPW10293048 for the gas valve needed. It does have to be converted over to LP gas. These are not real easy to replace, but can be done with time. Make sure you check for leaks after replacing the parts on the unit.

Hello Gary. Yes, it sounds like the valve for the oven is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Hope, You will want to check the oven safety valve by doing a resistance check of the coils. Go from either of the outer terminals to the center terminal and there should be a resistance of 216 ohms of resistance.

Hello Paul. Check and see if the igniters are sparking. If not, then you may need to replace the control board WPW10424330. It sends the voltage to the module to cause the igniters in the oven to spark. There are 2 igniters in the oven.
