Bob S August 12, 2013 for Model Number mgr7661ww-1 Need instructions on adjusting oven and broiler burners after replacing ng spuds with lp spuds. thank you,
1 Answer Hello Bob. To adjust for LP, You tighten them down all the way, then come back up 1 and 1/2 rounds and then adjust the orifice until the flame is all blue. Read More...
Lance August 08, 2013 for Model Number GS465LEKS0 I have recently bought a Super Capacity 465 gas range as a temporary replacement but the burners' flames seem to be too high. It is using natural gas so I'm confused on why the flames would be too high. Would the valve possibly be allowing too much gas or is there something else that could affect the burners' flames. The flames are a couple inches high and uneven. I tried putting a 10" cast iron skillet on one to see how the flame acts and it was high enough it spread around the lower 1/2" of the skillet. I'd like to narrow down the cause before I buy the parts to attempt a repair.
1 Answer Hello Lance. Check and see if the unit has been converted and if you are using the proper gas for the unit. If not, that is the issue with the unit. Read More...
Kelly July 31, 2013 for Model Number sf368lepq1 We have this oven and when you try to put on the gas line.it wont tighten seems likee the threads are gone to the gas partnonn the unit. Can that be replaced and if so what the part number?
1 Answer Kelly, For the threading being gone on the valve you would need to replace the oven safety valve WPW10293048. Read More...
Sherie July 29, 2013 for Model Number SF362LXSY0 Having an issue with the oven. When I turn it on there is no spark to light the oven and /or broiler or the smell of propane. The oven does not even click on. All the top burners work though. I was told that it was the valve and not the igniters. I don't think that it is the spark module since the top burners work. Why would there be propane flow to the burners and not the stove/broiler? I think that it might be the igniters not lighting the propane. Does the valve recognize spark and open the valve? Any help would be great. Thanks.
1 Answer Sherie, The issue could be the DSI spark module WPW10331686 and or the gas valve WPW10293048 The spark module supplies power to the igniters, when the igniter is sparking the control recognizes the voltage /resistance and completes the circuit to allow voltage to the gas valve solenoid, the solenoid opens and the gas is released and ignited. That's the easy explanation. You may want to review this post from the APP Repair Forum, [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/267015-whirlpool-oven-wont-always-ignite.html] it is a more in depth explanation and includes the resistance and voltage checks you'll need to make at the gas valve. Lynnette July 03, 2013 I replaced the gas regular on my LP whirlpool free standing gas range. the oven works but I causes my carbon monoxide alarm to go off. I turned the orifice on the valve to LP. what am I doing wrong?
1 Answer Lynnette, You didn't supply a model number, but you also didn't mention installing the top burner LP orifice hoods or adjusting the bake and broil burner hoods. There's more to a LP gas conversion than just flipping the regulator cap. If your stove has a storage drawer, remove it and check to see if the conversion parts and instructions are in the bag attached to the back side of the drawer. If not repost and attach a model number and we can assist you with parts and instructions. Read More...
Eric July 01, 2013 for Model Number GS773LXSS0 I changed the DSI board and ERC Control board and my bake oven still does not work. What else can it be?
1 Answer Eric, The gas valve WPW10293048 is the only component left, other than the wiring. But check and make sure the flip up valve in the gas valve is not in the "OFF" / UP position, if the flapper is up or off the gas to the valve is shut off, and the burner won't ignite. If the flapper id ON/down, then replace the valve, the solenoids inside the valve are weak or failed. Read More...
Dr. Evan Y June 25, 2013 for Model Number SF368LEPS2 LP Gas range. Stove top functions correctly. The oven will not work. One selects "Bake" and presses the "Start" button. The preheat function begins counting down and no response. Nothing. The broiler will not work. One selects "Custom Broil" and presses the "Start" button. The preheat function begins counting down and no response. Nothing. Both went out at the same time. The control board has been replaced and this has made not difference. Next step?
1 Answer Dr. Evan, You will want to check the safety valve for resistance across Bake to common and from broil to common. The valves should have 216 ohms of resistance. You will also want to check to see if the igniters are sparking. If they are not getting spark then the spark module is the most likely issue. Read More...
Lance June 20, 2013 for Model Number Sf362lxts When I turn on the oven I hear 2 to 3 clicks and smell gas, but the oven doesn't ignite. I changed the igniter and still no luck. Checked the gas valve solenoids and they registered 200.5 and 200.4 ohms. Also held propane torch next to igniter and the oven lit for about 4 minutes then flamed out.
1 Answer Lance, Based on your post, it sounds like an issue in the gas valve WPW10293048, but here are the checks you should make to varify, " First thing, check and make sure the power cord is attached to a properly polarized and grounded 120 VAC outlet. A proper ground is very important for the range to operate properly. Then you'll need to make several tests at the gas distribution valve. You'll need a multi meter to test voltage and resistances. At the valve body terminals, with the wires labeled and remove from the middle terminal to each of the outer terminals, you should read 215 ohms resistance. With the wires reconnected, when you select the bake cycle, you should have a reading of 8 to 18 VDC across the red and orange wires. When you make a broil selection you should have the same 8 to 18 VDC,across the orange and blue wires. If all checks are proper(within 10%) repalce the oven bake burner and or igniter. Read More...
Alan W June 07, 2013 for Model Number SF362LXSS0 MY oven clicks twice but will not come on. I replaced the upper spark igniter but still does not work. I dont see a spark out of the upper or lower when it clicks twice.
1 Answer Alan, Based on this information it sounds like you either have bad wires to the igniter or the spark module is bad and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Debby April 29, 2013 for Model Number Natural gas range We just purchased a new modular home and the gas is on, there is no gas coming out of burners or oven but the gas when disconnected flows out the pipe when not attached to the stove. This is brand new never used, gas guy said he never ran into that problem before...what is going on? Disgusted and need a repair guy.
1 Answer Hello Debby. Make sure the gas is the correct type and the shut off for the stove is turned on. It should have a shut off for it. Also, make sure there is power to the unit. Read More...
