Skyler G December 31, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool super capacity 465 I replaced the gas safety valve on my whirlpool oven, now when I turn it on you can smell strong LP fumes. I'm being told to flip the switch to LP but the only switch I have on it says "on' or "off" and cuts off flow. Also says I need to adjust the orifice. Could you walk me through these steps? I'm an HVAC student and it would benefit me greatly if I could do this myself.
1 Answer Hello Skyler. Under the white plastic cap is a brass nut. Unscrew the nut and flip it over to where it says LP. Then tighten down the orifice all the way and loosen back up 1 and 1/2 turns and adjust until the flame is blue. Read More...
Jeff C December 17, 2013 for Model Number SF362LXST0 I need to replace the gas safety valve (part number W10293048) for this Whirlpool gas range. I use LP as my fuel. Does this part need any adjustments to run on LP or can I use it as is out of the box?
1 Answer Hello Jeff. You will need to flip the regulator and adjust the orifice in the unit. Read More...
Jan November 10, 2013 for Model Number 9761959 My Whirlpool Gas Range with E4 F3 for the sensor. I have replaced the sensor and still the same. Then I replaced Gas Valve and it started working for few years and again E4 F3. So, I replaced Gas Valve again its start working again for another few years and now its back again. What do you think the main issue is with this range? Model SF195LEKQ.
1 Answer Hello Jan, The first thing I would do is chase the entire wiring harness to ensure no wires can contact one another. Since the control is popping the wrong fault code, I suspect that if no cross circuits are possible in the harness, the controls' self-diagnostic circuit is mal-functioning. The most common cause for control failure is corrosion on connectors. Therefore, disconnecting and reconnecting wires will be necessary throughout test procedures. Check all connections before replacing components, looking for broken or loose wires, failed terminals, or wires not pressed into connectors far enough. It may not be necessary to replace the control since the unit seems to operate correctly unit a code comes up but the issue can progress and get worse with time. Read More...
Chas November 02, 2013 for Model Number agr5844vdb-1 Top burners work, broiler works, oven does not work, I replaced the oven igniter, it still does not work. It does not click and no smell of lp gas.
1 Answer Chas, You will want to check the resistance of the oven safety valve. The resistance from Bake to common (center terminal) should be 216 ohms of resistance. If there is not proper resistance then the safety valve is faulty and needs to be replaced. Read More...
Ron R October 06, 2013 for Model Number SF369LEMQ I have a whirlpool gas range I bought at an auction about a year ago. When we first started using it you could smell a light scent of gas while it was off but went away after about a month. We had issues keeping the oven lit, sometimes it would light and stay lit after a couple tries now it lights but then you hear the gas shut off after a few seconds then the flame goes out. We used to have to set the temp above 390 and it would work now it doesn't. I called a local appliance dealer they told me it was the gas valve /built in regulator but before I spend about 150 dollars id like a second opinion. Please help thanksgiving is coming and I need a stove.
1 Answer Ron, Yes, this issue would most likely be caused by a faulty Gas valve WPW10293048. When the gas valve becomes weak, the coils will cause the gas flow to stop prematurely causing the flame to go out. Read More...
Moe October 05, 2013 for Model Number WFG371LVB1 I have a Whirlpool Gas Range model#WFG371LVB1 when I turn on the oven everything works fine, but only stays on for a short time and then shuts off. I checked the safety valve for continuity and my meter didn't make any noise. It was hard to get to the valve terminals, I took the drawer off to test it.
1 Answer Moe, You will want to check the resistance of the oven safety valve. The resistance should be 216 ohms from bake to common (which is the center terminal) and broil to common. If the resistance is not correct then the safety valve is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Brandon September 25, 2013 for Model Number SF367LXSS 0 I just replaced the gas valve. It fixed my problem, which was that neither broil or bake would work. However, now when I activate bake setting and it lights, I smell strong LP gas odors. It doesn't do this on broil. Any ideas?
1 Answer Brandon, from the information given it sounds like you need to replace the igniter, part number WP9758079. Thanks! Read More...
Andy September 20, 2013 for Model Number 9761959 whirlpool safety oven valve My Bake Burner lights up momentarily and while igniter is still clicking, flame shuts down 4-5 seconds later. Could my safety gas valve be an issue? I get good ohms reading on both solenoids. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Andy. This sounds like a grounding issue. You will need to check all the wiring on the unit. If good, see if your model offers the burner and igniter assembly. If so, you will need to order and replace those parts. Read More...
Richard September 16, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool SF362LXSQ0 The oven and broil sections of my oven will not fire up. The top burners work fine but when I select bake or broil, I don't hear any of the normal clicks and no gas. I checked the continuity of the gas valve with the wires removed and did not get any readings(between middle terminal and top terminal and middle terminal and bottom terminal). Would it be the gas valve or the spark module? Thanks
1 Answer Richard, You should have a reading of 215 ohms resistance from the center terminal to either of the outside terminals of the gas valve. Based on your post information, both gas valve solenoids are defective, and the valve WPW10293048 will need to be replaced. Read More...
Jerry V September 01, 2013 for Model Number SF362lLXSQ/Whirlpool gas range When I try to use oven it just clicks 2 times but won't light. I don't know if the gas regulator is bad or if it is something else. I do not hear or smell gas.
1 Answer Jerry, You will want to test the resistance of your oven safety valve. When you check the resistance, you will want to test from Bake to common and broil to common. You would do this with each set to that function. The resistance value should be 216 ohms and if not the would need to replace the oven safety valve. Read More...
