Symptoms of a bad valve include:

  • Water dispenser not working

  • Leaks or water pooling around the valve
  • Unusual noises during water dispensing

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Valve (Part Number: OEM18054681)

Matt S for Model Number MFX2571XEM0

Where is the smart valve (part number AP6018224 or W10270395) located on Maytag fridges? Parts diagrams point to the location of the dual inlet valve, which is a different valve located inside the refrigerated compartment near the filter. Is this smart valve in the back where the water hose connects to the lower back of the fridge? I've tested the dual inlet valve, front controls, door sensor, and main control board, and suspect this smart valve is the reason my water dispenser and ice maker stopped working simultaneously.

Matt, Yes this water valve would be located on the back side of the unit in the machine compartment. Check to make sure that the filter is fully inserted with a good filter and it could be that the filter head is faulty.

Gregory, The issue with icemaker leaking would be that the fill cup may be freezing which could be caused by low water pressure. This can happen when the filter gets clogged up and needs to be replaced.

Butch, The water connection at the valve is unable to be replaced separately and you would need to get the valve which is part number 67006322.

Hello Glenn. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Debbie, The first thing you will want to do is remove the icemaker and check to make sure that the fill tube is not frozen. If it is frozen then clear the ice and replace the water valve. If it is not frozen then you will need to cycle the icemaker and test to see if there is 120 vac getting to the icemaker solenoid on the valve. If there is not then the icemaker would need to be replaced. If there is then the water valve would need replaced.

Hello Alex. It looks like the inlet is the white part of the valve and the outlet is the green.

Hello Tom, You may need the water valve, filter and housing, but the price seems a bit high to me. You could repair the unit yourself and save more than 50% on that quote.
