Thomas March 05, 2012 I have had problems with the ice maker producing ice cubes. I basically replaced the ice maker (believing the thermostat was bad). Still There is no ice production unless I actuallly pour water in the ice cube tray. My concern is that the Water Inlet valve is the problem... its part number is 2182104 which according to your website is now 2315576. This tested 170.0 ohms. Is this reading low?? I have cleaned the mesh filter inside and the water line runs clear water. I did not observe any ice frozen or blocking water into the cube tray.
1 Answer Hello Thomas. Yes, if the icemaker is new, and the fill tube is not frozen, then you will need to replace the water valve WP2315576. Make sure the water is turned on the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Doug February 21, 2012 for Model Number KTRS22MJL00 I'm getting water in the freezer that eventually blocks the drain and after enough time the water runs into the fridge. I traced it back to water leaking (or spilling) from the fill tube that goes into the icemaker. The tube is all the way in the icemaker. It almost looks like there is too much water pressure and that's causing it to splash out. My question is this. Does the water inlet valve do anything to control the water pressure or is it simply a timer? If I back off the filler adjustment screw I still get the water in the fridge, but I get fewer ice cubes.
1 Answer Hello Doug. The water valve just opens when power is sent to it and closes when the power is not sent to the water valve WP2315576. It does not control the pressure of the water on the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Hector January 10, 2012 Fingers on ice maker not turning not cycling Do I have to wait till freezer get down to running temperature before it starts cycling ? Or how long do I have to wait?
1 Answer Hello Hector. Yes, the temperature in the freezer will need to be correct and the icemaker needs to be turned on. Make sure the water valve WP2315576 has water coming to it as well. You can manually cycle the icemaker. Here is a link to our Repair Forum, this is a free service to our customers. Use this link to access the repair for your question. Hector January 10, 2012 for Model Number ET18NMXJW01 Hi I installed new inlet valve and no water is coming on the side that goes up to the ice maker. I waited about 10 minutes I also tested for voltage going into the water inlet I,m getting a reading of 13.30 AC volts Any thoughts How do I make sure the ice maker is in cycling mode?
1 Answer Hello Hector. The fingers in the icemaker should be turning if the unit is cycling. The power does not come to the valve WP2315576 until the icemaker is in harvest mode. Hope this helps. Read More...
John W. January 04, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool estate refrigerator TS22BR purchased 1993 Water is not reaching icemaker. Is it the water inlet valve. How can I be sure and what does it cost to replace? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello John. Make sure the fill tube is not frozen. If it is clear, cycle the icemaker and test for power to the water valve. If there is power there and no water, replace the valve WP2315576. No power, or the icemaker does not cycle, replace the icemaker 4317943. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Matt R. November 15, 2011 for Model Number Kenmore 10677188791 I tested the voltages for the water valve, motor, heater, etc. and all is well with that. But the icemaker still will not fill with water. It doesn't even try to push any water into the tray. I have checked for water pressure at the valve as well and that all seems fine.I don't believe that the line is frozen either. What is a good way to check if the line is frozen? Other than that i am all out of ideas. Please help.
1 Answer Hello Matt. If the voltage is good, and the fill tube is not frozen, then you will need to replace the water valve WP2315576. Remove the water line from the valve going to the icemaker and see if water comes out when the icemaker cycles. If so, the line is frozen. If not, replace the valve. Hope this helps. Read More...
James November 13, 2011 for Model Number et18nmxdw06 My icemaker on this ice box when it dumps it also dumps a little water with it. Is my problem a bad water valve? Can you tell me what it is causing this to happen?

Jayc June 04, 2011 for Model Number ET8CHMXKQ06 I replaced the water inlet valve and water still does not come thru the inlet valve and up the hose. What am I doing wrong. This is a simple task. Could I have another defective water inlet valve?
1 Answer Hello Jayc. The water valve will only turn on when the icemaker cycles. Check and make sure the fill tube to the icemaker is not frozen. Also, test for power going to the water valve when the icemaker is in harvest mode. If there is no power there, you will need to replace the icemaker 4317943. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
