The Valve is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool built-in ice makers. Located within the water supply assembly, it controls the flow of water into the ice-making system.

Symptoms of a bad valve include:

  • Slow or incomplete filling during harvest cycles
  • Erratic or no ice production
  • Water leaks around the valve area

Causes of failure can include mineral buildup over time restricting water passages or worn seals no longer regulating pressure as designed.

This Whirlpool part also fits ice systems from Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, and some Kenmore.

Shannon for Model Number Kitchen Aid Ice Maker KUIA18PNLS5

After turning on the ice machine, it produces a full bin of ice with no problems. The problem occurs after the ice bin is full. The circulation pump continues to attempt to circulate water from the bin, but there is not enough water in the bin and the circulation pump sucks air and will not shut off, and no water is added to the bin, at which time I cut off the ice maker. I replaced the water circulation pump a couple of years ago. Could it be the water valve, which has never been replaced.

Hello Shannon, The water valve W10881366 is probably the issue. I'm surprised you haven't had to change it before since the water valve is the most problematic of all the components on the under the counter ice machine with all of the sedimentation and mineral deposits they are exposed to and the fact that they run almost continuously.

David, What is the issue, you didn't mention that. As for a 2X2 piece of foil, we have no idea, There should be nothing attached to the heater grid, thats where the ice falls and gets cut into cubes by the wire. The only thing attached to the evaporator should be the thermistor, and thaty should have a mounting clip. If you can gwt us a model number and a more precise problem explanation, we can help you out a lot better, Thanks

Brad for Model Number GE monogram ice machine 197D7177P003

Ordered pump Make WPL Part # W10217918 on your invoice, from technical data sheet replacement part "pump" WR57X10028, I have your replacement part in my hand, an exact match. I do not know how to remove and reinstall the water lines. Do I cut the lines and reinstall by simply pushing in past the metal grab fitting? I cannot pull out water lines from defective pump. I can email or text a picture of the lines into the fittings..thanks, Brad

Hi Brad. The replacement valve part # W10881366. It uses (like all newer water valve types) push in clips to grab and release the water lines. You should be able to push in the fitting end as then it will release the water lines. Then make sure (if you have to cut the lines) that the lines are cut exactly square for proper reinsertion into the new valve. This should aide in your replacement. Thank You.

Hello Brian. It is likely that your water valve has stuck in the open position and will need replaced. That part is W10881366. I hope this helps!

Hello Ausuml. You have a leak at the new water valve. You will need to check the water lines and make sure they are good and tight. Pull on the water lines and see if they come out of the valve. They should be tight. Also, check and make sure the lines are not cracked. Hope this helps.

Ausuml for Model Number ZDIS15CSSM

We had a repairman tell us we needed to order part number WR57X10068 (Water Valve) also shown as manufacturer part number W10217918. We ordered this and our ice now is perfectly clear. The problem now lies in the fact that the reservoir is not staying full. Due to it not staying full, there is a constant wooshing noise. If we fill the reservoir manually then the noise stops. Since we have replaced the water valve yesterday the ice compartment has only produced about 32 ounces of ice. Can you tell me what we need to do? My husband did the work and I questioned the lines being straight. He assured me there were no kinks in the line :)

Hello Ausuml. If your referring to the icemaker mold as the reservoir, you may have a problem with the fill tube for the icemaker being frozen. If so, you will need to thaw the fill tube out. Hope this helps.
