Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Tube Assembly (Part Number: OEM18027981)

Andy, the tube assembly is a total length of approximately 55 inches, and is usually longer than you need. I would have to think your tubing is "Bunching up" inside the door, if you're a foot short. Normally you'd attach a strong string or wire to the end of the tube , at the bottom of the door and extract the tube from the dispenser housing. Attach the string to the new tube, tape the end of the tube, so the edge doesn't catch on the door interior and insert it through the housing and use the string to "snake" the tube through the door/insulation assembly, and out th opening in the bottom of the door. You may be able to use a semi rigid cable or a string and vaccuum cleaner to snake another string through the door and try again.

Hello Barneybar. Remove the grill from the bottom and get a hold of the bottom of the front cover. While applying downward pressure, pull the cover out away from the freezer door. It seems as though you are going to break it but since it snaps onto plastic clips, it snaps off. When you reinstall it, you hook it on the top first, then bump it on with the back of your fist. I hope you found this helpful and I hope you have a great day!

Tom, Yes, you could replace the water tube yourself. Be ready for quite a bit of frustration, In you case, you have the incorrect part, all you need is the plastic tube2196117 or use the water tube from the kit you purchased. Once you have the dispenser dismantled and the water tube is free from the mounting, you'll need to attach a long, strong string to the end of the tube in the dispenser. Grasp and pull out on the water tube at the bottom, hinge area of the door(turning and twisting the tube helps) once you've got the tube extracted, tape off or cap the end of the new water tube, attach the string to the water tube and pull the string back through the door lining and out the opening in the dispenser body. Good Luck and Thanks

Lazlo, You probably have air in the system, from the tear down process. You need to get a large container, and run approximately 3 quarts of water through the dispenser, to clear the system , if the problem persists, then start looking at water pressure or a clogged/dirty water filter. Good Luck, and Thanks

Laszlo, The WP4388152 water tube and spout, are on the inside of the freezer door, but I guess you're aware of that. One good method that seems to work pretty well, attach a string to the end of the fill tube, before you remove it from the front of the dispenser. When you're redy to install the new fill tube, you can use the string as a "snake" device to help draw the tube through the conduit and out the door opening at the hinge. Thanks and Good Luck.

Hello Laszlo! From the information you have supplied it seems that you will need to replace the water inlet valve. For Whirlpool models ED22PQ* the units use a dual water valve part number 4318046. Thanks!

Hi Sheryl. Yes, the water tube assembly part # WP4388152, is a very involved replacement part. I would consider(if for insurance purposes) to have a certified technician who should be up - to - date on service issues, if your model has any. It should take an experienced technician less than a couple hours (if all goes well considering). Hope this helps thank- you.

Hello Peter. On your unit the water valve should be located behind the metal plate on the bottom of the rear of the fridge. I hope this info helps.

Hello Peter. If the water is dripping from the dispenser assembly, and there is no air in the lines, you will need to replace the water valve 4318046. Be sure and run 1 to 2 gallons of water through the dispenser to remove any air in the lines. Hope this helps.
