Barbara August 19, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool Cabrio wtw7340xv My washer will start to run when it's not turned on but it doesn't fill with water. When I try to wash clothes it will look like it's starting but will not fill with water or wash the clothes. It also starts to make noises when it's not even turned on. They only way to make it stop is if I unplug it.
1 Answer Hello Barbara, This sounds like a control issue. You should first use a putty knife to raise the lid and open the Ziploc baggy and remove the Tech Manual. Be sure not to damage the bag since it is extremely important to put the manual back so it can be located the next time it is needed. The unit should be run through the self diagnostic procedure to check for fault codes. I would suspect if the unit is coming on by itself, the control WPW10299400 is probably the issue. Read More...

Leapyear May 11, 2012 for Model Number Series 70 Top loader I only get hot water to enter tub regardless of where temp. is set for wash cycle. Rinses cycle is designed to be always cold regardless of wash setting and it works fine, fills with cold water. Could this be a water valve problem?
1 Answer Hello Leapyear. No, this water valve 285805 does not use a thermistor. If the unit is working on rinse, but not on the others, the water temperature switch may be bad on the unit. You need to test the switch and see if it is changing. If there is no water temperature switch and it is controlled by the timer, you will need to replace the timer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Doug S. March 30, 2012 for Model Number GHW9400PL0 Whirlpool Duet HT GHW9400PL0 washing machine slowly adds water to the tub while it just sits there. It takes about 24 hours before you start seeing water in the tub. This occurs with the whether the unit is plugged in or not. I have removed the inlet hoses and cleaned the filters but same problem. Performing a drain cycle removes enough water so that you no longer see water standing in the tub.
1 Answer Doug, it sounds like the water inlet valve is defective and needs to be replaced. Your part number is WP8181694. Thanks! Read More...
