For Whirlpool Washer Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM9283632)

Hello Barbara, This sounds like a control issue. You should first use a putty knife to raise the lid and open the Ziploc baggy and remove the Tech Manual. Be sure not to damage the bag since it is extremely important to put the manual back so it can be located the next time it is needed. The unit should be run through the self diagnostic procedure to check for fault codes. I would suspect if the unit is coming on by itself, the control WPW10299400 is probably the issue.

Hello Brother. The unit will not work properly and fill properly if there is no thermistor on the valve. You need to use the part your model number recommends for proper operation.

Hello Leapyear. No, this water valve 285805 does not use a thermistor. If the unit is working on rinse, but not on the others, the water temperature switch may be bad on the unit. You need to test the switch and see if it is changing. If there is no water temperature switch and it is controlled by the timer, you will need to replace the timer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
