Severino A. September 06, 2011 for Model Number mav-35 I have a maytag washer mav-35. The hot water will not flow, only for cold water, probably defect water for hot valve. Can we change valve set from maytag to whirlpool.
1 Answer Hello Severino. Yes, Whirlpool now owns maytag, and sells the maytag parts. The model number you provided is not working. We will need the full model number to determine the correct valve. Thanks. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx Read More...
Tom September 06, 2011 for Model Number LA5668XSNO First off, your site is wonderful with directions and information needed to tackle my repair. I am looking to replace the water inlet valve on a very old Whirlpool model as indicated above. How confidant would you be that the "universal" part #AP3094541 will be suitable for my machine. The current inlet valve had a red body if that tells you anything. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Tom. Based on the model number you provided, 285805 is the correct water valve. Hope this helps. Read More...
Washerwoman August 15, 2011 Just changed the water inlet valve because water was free-flowing whether machine was on or off. Now runs beautifully with hot water (warm) setting only. Will not fill or rinse in cold setting. Did I buy a defective valve or connect something wrong? I tried switching the hoses, but it works same.
1 Answer Hello WasherWoman. Try reversing the wires on the water valve 285805. If the water comes in on the cold valve, then the valve is fine and you have another problem. If the water does not come in with the wires reversed, you have a bad water valve. Hope this helps. Read More...
Sam August 14, 2011 for Model Number lte5243dq6 The water wont fill in the rinse cycle and the valve makes a buzzing noise could it be the mixing valve part # 3952163
1 Answer Sam, Yes, it could be an issue with the fill valve solenoid, apparently the cold water solenoid, You should, disconnect the cold water fill hose from the washer and the faucet, and check the screen washer and debris screen in the end of the hose and inside the valve inlet for debris ( sandy looking debris) blocking the water flow. Mark P. July 25, 2011 for Model Number GHW9150PWO Hi, I have a whirlpool duet washer and every once in awhile we see that the washer has filled with water on its own. Is this going to be the inlet valve? Which valve is the right one to get from you for this washer model? Thank you ahead of time.
1 Answer Hello Mark. Based on the information you provided, the water valve is bad and will need to be replaced. Based on the model number you provided, WP8181694 is the correct water valve. Hope this helps. Read More...
Bob July 22, 2011 for Model Number LSR7200EQ0 Can not get either hot or cold water to run into the tub. Have tried cold/cold hot/cold or hot/hot. No water into tub. Am thinking water inlet valve but before opening the back would like to get best advice. Thanks bob
1 Answer Bob, the fill valve is a very good place to start, if there are no extenuating circumstances. The best way would be to check for 120 VAC to the fill valve solenoid(s) once you remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch harness. If you have the voltage, you have a bad fill valve, if no voltage you have a bad water temp switch,WPW10168256 or timer, WP3951603 or a loose wire connection, but these are the less likely posibilities. Thanks and Good Luck. Read More...
Margaret July 07, 2011 for Model Number Whirlpool Model LA5580XTWO I discovered today that water flows out the drain as the washer is filling. The flow of water out the drain stops when the machine stops filling.
1 Answer Margaret, Sounds like a "syphonning" problem. Check and make sure the top of the drain pipe is at least 38 inches high from the floor. Make sure the end of the drain hose is not stuffed too far down inside the pipe, or taped and sealed to the drain pipe. I'm sure you'll find your problem in one of these areas. Thanks and Good Luck. Bob K July 07, 2011 for Model Number 28892790 When selectiong Automatic Temp control for filling (warm/cold) the unit will start filling and after about 1 minute the water comes to a trickle. I can shut off and wait and then re-engage the cycle and it will start filling again normally then about 1 minute into fill it will drop down to a trickle again. Is it the fill valves or a temp sensor or somthing else? It will also do the same on Hot. Could this be a sign that the Hot side of the valve assemble is going out?
1 Answer Hi Bob. Yes, you need the water inlet valve assembly. This part # is 285805. Thank - you. Read More...
Diane July 06, 2011 for Model Number LSB6200PQ1 My washer will fill, but not agitate. It will spin and drain. I am told to check the hoses in the back of washer and if there is good pressure then the problem is inlet valve. Could this really be why it won't agitate?
1 Answer Hello Diane. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the pressure switch W10337780 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
Old T July 04, 2011 for Model Number 110.20882990 Water level some times works and is more often failing. Water will over flow if not shut off. Is it the water valve or the water level switch?
1 Answer Hello Old T! To help verify which part is defective you can run the appliance and unplug it. If the water continues to flow you will need to replace the inlet valve 285805. If the water stops flowing you will need to check the pressure hose to make sure it is not clogged and replace the pressure switch W10335056. Hope this information helps you! Thanks! Read More...
