Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washer Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM9283632)

Hello WasherWoman. Try reversing the wires on the water valve 285805. If the water comes in on the cold valve, then the valve is fine and you have another problem. If the water does not come in with the wires reversed, you have a bad water valve. Hope this helps.

Sam, Yes, it could be an issue with the fill valve solenoid, apparently the cold water solenoid, You should, disconnect the cold water fill hose from the washer and the faucet, and check the screen washer and debris screen in the end of the hose and inside the valve inlet for debris ( sandy looking debris) blocking the water flow. Good Luck and Thanks

Bob, the fill valve is a very good place to start, if there are no extenuating circumstances. The best way would be to check for 120 VAC to the fill valve solenoid(s) once you remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch harness. If you have the voltage, you have a bad fill valve, if no voltage you have a bad water temp switch,WPW10168256 or timer, WP3951603 or a loose wire connection, but these are the less likely posibilities. Thanks and Good Luck.

Margaret, Sounds like a "syphonning" problem. Check and make sure the top of the drain pipe is at least 38 inches high from the floor. Make sure the end of the drain hose is not stuffed too far down inside the pipe, or taped and sealed to the drain pipe. I'm sure you'll find your problem in one of these areas. Thanks and Good Luck.

Bob K for Model Number 28892790

When selectiong Automatic Temp control for filling (warm/cold) the unit will start filling and after about 1 minute the water comes to a trickle. I can shut off and wait and then re-engage the cycle and it will start filling again normally then about 1 minute into fill it will drop down to a trickle again. Is it the fill valves or a temp sensor or somthing else? It will also do the same on Hot. Could this be a sign that the Hot side of the valve assemble is going out?

Hello Old T! To help verify which part is defective you can run the appliance and unplug it. If the water continues to flow you will need to replace the inlet valve 285805. If the water stops flowing you will need to check the pressure hose to make sure it is not clogged and replace the pressure switch W10335056. Hope this information helps you! Thanks!
