Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Level Switch Kit (Part Number: OEM13703493)

Lindsay, It is possible that the housing is clogged up and would need to be cleaned. To do this you can remove the hose from the pressure switch and blow through it in order to make sure that it is not clogged otherwise you will need to remove the inner tub to gain access to it to clean.

Hello Tom, While it is impossible for us to know what wiring configuration you have without your model number, this was most likely cause by a poor electrical connection to an onboard component.

I ordered WHIRLPOOL Water Level Switch Kit Part #: AP4567828 (W10337780) due to an overflowing washer. I replaced it and the water still does not shut off. Even when I move the dial along, the machine does not start agitating. Also, the water level switch now has a mechanical clicking between size loads when the old switch moved smoothly, without any clicking. The water does not continue to fill when the machine is unplugged. Did I replace the wrong part? My model # is 110.26912691.

My very old Whirlpool wash machine immediately starts to agitate when turned on. It doesn't fill with any water. I tried different water level settings, different cycles, and different water temps, but as soon as I turn on the machine it just agitates. I ran it through a whole cycle and there was no water even when it was spinning. This has happened intermittently the last few weeks but when I let the machine agitate after a minute or two of starting a the machine it would stop and then fill with water and continue with it's normal cycle. Does the water level switch need replaced or do you think it may be something else? Thanks for your help. Stacey

Stacey, You will want to check the pressure hose that goes from the water level switch to the tub and make sure that it is not clogged up and that the air dome that it connects to on the tub is not clogged. If this checks ok then the water level switch would most likely be faulty and need to be replaced. The part number for the pressure switch is W10337780.

Jess, if the water stops filling the tub when you remove power to the unit you'll need to check the pressure switch hose and replace the pressure switch. If it continues to fill once you remove power to the unit you'll need to replace the inlet valve. We'll need your model number to determine the correct parts for your appliance. Thanks.

Hello Travis, This is called siphoning. You need to make sure the standpipe is higher than the main top of the unit and is not sealed with tape or anything. This will cause the water going down the drain to pull the water the unit is filling with down the drain also, (siphoning). If the top of the standpipe has been sealed because the machine is draining faster than the water can go down the drain and is overflowing from the top of the standpipe, you will need a plumber to solve the issue since sealing the top of the standpipe creates the new problem. In other words, the standpipe should be able to drain the water as fast as the machine can pump it out. If it cannot, there is a restriction in the drain.

Washer overflows too frequently. I saw your video. I am guessing I should replace the water level switch and hose. My wife says the switch doesn't always center/snap to one place or another. I replaced the motor coupling last summer an observed the hose was pretty gross looking. I also learned what happens when it becomes disconnected :-(. It's probably loose now after these years of heavy use. Question: Is whirlpool kit w10337780 a replacement? Does it include a four position switch replacing sears # 3366847? I assume the hose is a standard diameter. Thanks in advance.

Hello ThomasR. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve in the unit.
