Fred May 16, 2012 for Model Number ed22pwxbwoo Ice maker water did not shut off. Shut it off at the wall valve. Left it for several days and now it appears to work ok. Has one ice cycle complete and is on another cycle and is working ok. But I am fearful that it will malfunction again. Is the most probable cause the water inlet valve? And thus should it be replaced as a preventive measure? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Fred. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the water valve 4318046 is bad on the unit and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Bonehead March 16, 2012 for Model Number 10654582400 I replaced water valve changed filter checked the temp of freezer it was zero still freezing in tube before ice maker can u tell me about how much water it takes to fill the ice maker or how much water it takes to fill a measuring cup out of the water dispencer i just want to see if maybe i have a bad filter or i will try any other suggestions u might have regarding my problem thanks again
1 Answer Hi. look at the fill tube where it hooks into the back of the cabinet . It has to be flush and a tight seal against the cabinet or it will drip moisture build-up and eventually keep freezing the fill tube. Since you say the supply hoses are not kinked and the supply pressure is very strong (at least 30-120 psi.) then the water will fill during ice maker command and not shut off. This water pressure works both ways and needs to fully open the valve as well as hold it completely shut. Flush out the supply hose as you will look into the bucket to See if there is any sediment incoming from the water. If there is any debris, then this is why the water valve keeps partially open and back fills the fill tube. Inspect the fill tube and see if the inner folds are ripped or damaged so it can not seal. Look at the inside of the fill tube / cabinet area. Is there any bulging of the cabinet insulation interferes withe the fill tube configuration as it passes through the cabinet. You should see only white on the inside of the cabinet at the tube circumference. If you see any insulation interference, you need to remove the fill tube and clear out the insulation carefully until it is clear and the fill tube passes smoothly. The fill tube rotates counter clockwise approx. 30° and then pulls out. You will see the inner fill tube seal and the back of the thin metal of the cabinet. All has to be flush as the cabinet cannot be wavy so the sealing cannot take effect. Since you already replaced the water valve, then you need to consider the ice maker part WPW10190965, because it commands the water fill amount. Thank You. Read More...
Bonehead March 12, 2012 for Model Number 10654582400 I just replaced the water valve and that did not correct the problem of the water freezing in the tube going to the ice maker. It still acts like it is not getting enough water but I have good flow coming from water dispenser and the filter was also replaced about a week ago. Any other ideas to try please?
1 Answer Hello Bonehead. Check and make sure the fill tube is not partially frozen and is causing the water to come in slowly. It needs to be clear from back to front. Also, make sure the temperature in the freezer is around 0 and is not to cold for the unit to operate properly. Hope this helps. Read More...

Karen P January 25, 2012 for Model Number 4318046 When installing the water valve kit for the ice maker, the new replacement part has different colors on the wiring plugs from the coil. Does it matter which ones go with each colors. For example, the are two reds but they are not on the same side as the old plugs.
1 Answer Karen, Are you sure you have the correct part, you did not supply a model number of your fridge to varify. But the solenoid terminals are slightly different in size. the "Green" solenoid, is for the icemaker assembly and will have the smaller wire terminals, and the water supply tube to the ice maker will attach to the threaded fitting under the green solenoid. The "Orange" solenoid, is for the water dispenser and will use the wires with the larger termianals, and the water ube from the water dispenser tank will attach to the threaded fitting under the orange solenoid. If you have more or less than four(4) wires, we have an issue with the water valve you are trying to install. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
