Joan D August 18, 2012 for Model Number LE7800XMN2 Serial: M50916558 I have heat on some of the dial selections but not on all. Do I need a temperature selector dial?
1 Answer Hello Joan. You need to check and make sure the cycles that don't work are not air fluff cycles. If not, replace the timer. Read More...
Chuck July 25, 2012 for Model Number TEDX640PQ0 appliance is heating fine until I install the drum, and once I do, the element will not turn on. Checked for continuity, and all seemed fine. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Chuck, That doesn't make a lot of sense, unless you're loosing the heat circuit (1M to 2M) at the motor switch, due to a "drag" or issue from the tumbler or belt. You may have to run a voltage check on all the wires, and components while the dryer is running, with and without the belt, until you find where the power loss to the element occurrs. Brian July 25, 2012 for Model Number TEDL640DQ1 My 16 year old dryer stopped heating. Using a meter I found the thermal cut off switch was bad. However, given the age of the dryer, should I just go ahead and get the thermal shut down kit and replace both temperature shut down switches, and replace the dryer heater? The heater ohms were 9.9 to 10.
1 Answer Hello Brian. There is no need if there is no damage to the heater 279838. Make sure the vent is not kinked or clogged causing the issue with the unit. Read More...
Gail July 06, 2012 for Model Number rel46328bq My dryer has no heat. Do I need to replace heating element?
1 Answer Hello Gail. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
1 Answer Hello Easy. No, the heating element 279838 will need to be replaced as an assembly on the unit. There is no re-string kit for this element. Read More...
Henrymco June 10, 2012 for Model Number LER4634EQ2 My heater is not turning on. I have checked all sensors and they are closed per spec., Everything works fine except no heat. Does the timer switch control the heating element and if so how do I check the timer for proper operation?
1 Answer Hello Henrymco. Yes, the timer switch sends power to the heater. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Paige June 09, 2012 for Model Number whirlpool LEQ9030PQ1 electric dryer whirlpool model LEQ9030PQ1 - dryer does not get hot/or warm and keeps running after timer switch goes to 0. replaced timer switch, replaced temperature switch. still not working correctly. checked thermal fuse, read 0 ohms. checked Dryer Thermal cutoff, read 0 Ohms. yes i checked the vent.
1 Answer Paige, does 0 indicate a " closed" circuit on your meter ? if so, then you need to check the element 279838 for a "closed" circuit across the two element terminals with the wires off. and then check for 240 VAC across the terminals with the wires attqched and the dryer running in a heat cycle. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Michael June 08, 2012 for Model Number ler4634eq0 I am checking the resistance of the heater element, and it is reading about 10 ohms. Is this not too low and does it show that the element is bad?
1 Answer Hello Michael. The heater should read 30 to 40 ohms, but that does not mean the heater is bad. If there is 240 volts coming to the heater, and it does not heat, then replace the heater. If there is not 240 volts to the heater, you have other issues with the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Herbert June 03, 2012 My dryer was working fine then it started shutting of after 5 min. I think the heating element is getting too hot. Will that cause the dryer to shut off?
1 Answer Hello Herbert. No, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the motor is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit. Read More...
Rone June 02, 2012 My whirpool dryer stopped heating last night turned it on this morning & it works fine. Any ideas? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Rone. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. If not, you will need to check and see if the breaker is getting hot and dropping one side. If so, replace the breaker in the breaker box. Read More...
