No heat Dan R. • Woodruff , SC • November 30, 2018
First ran the built-in diagnostic tests. Got error code indicating that the inlet thermistor was open. Removed lower access panel and did continuity checks on the inlet thermistor, thermal cutoff and heating element. Even doing these checks is very difficult on this model due to the location of these parts and the limited access through the so-called access panel. But was able to get an open reading on the heating element, so I knew that at least that part was faulty. Could not get a reliable...

The High Limit Thermostat is an OEM part for LG dryers, designed to act as a critical safety feature within the appliance. This thermostat monitors the dryer's internal temperature, shutting off the heat source if it detects temperatures that are dangerously high. By doing so, it prevents overheating, which can lead to appliance damage or, in worst-case scenarios, fires. The high limit thermostat is a crucial component for the safe operation of your dryer, ensuring it operates within the specified temperature range.
Causes of a faulty High Limit Thermostat can include a malfunction within the thermostat itself, such as a failure to accurately detect temperature changes, or issues with the dryer that cause it to run hotter than designed, such as restricted airflow or a malfunctioning heating element.
Symptoms of a malfunctioning High Limit Thermostat include:
- The dryer not heating properly or at all
- The dryer repeatedly shutting off during cycles
- Excessive heat emanating from the dryer, indicating it is not regulating temperature correctly
This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Kenmore models.

The full story:
Dishwasher stopped running mid-cycle. When I first began troubleshooting I tried manually advancing the timer knob, and the machine would run. That led me to believe that the actual timer assembly was bad, so I replaced it. The dishwasher ran fine for a day, and then the same problem came back. This time, however, I also had to push in on the door to get it to run. I looked around online, and someone suggested that the door latch wasn't closing tightly enough. I adjusted the...
