Put both thermostats in as I did not know if the unit was cycling on high limit at times. Fixed both issues plus I used my lawn blower and blew all the lint out of dryer and short 3' hose. I also lubed rear drum bearings. Works like new. Ron R Read more

• Timer will not advance

I went ahead and ordered the element, and the 2 different thermostats not knowing exactly which one might be the problem. My My Maytag opens from the front and it was actually pretty easy to get into. Also gave me the opportunity to vacuum out the inside of the dryer. Pop the top off, remove the wires that connect the door switch (noting the colors and placement), take off the 2 inside nuts that hols the fron on, pull it forward and lift it off, 3 inside screws to take out to inside lint part... After reviewing various posts on the internet, I tested the high heat temperature limiter and determined it was faulty due to lint buildup. I checked the continuity on the thermal fuse (which was blown) and knew that it needed to be replaced. This made me question why it blew (i.e. what caused it to fail). I checked continuity on the thermostat (high limit) as well as the thermostat for the element. Both passed a continuity test, so I removed the high limit thermostat to inspect it and could hear it rattling inside. I have a Bosch nexxt 500 series dryer that stopped heating. It was still running fine, just no heat. I did some research and found the Limiter as the possible problem. I pushed the red reset button. The dryer started heating up, but with in 1 cycle kicked off again. I called A.P.P. and spoke to Cecilia. She was very helpful. Every time I tried to start our dryer, the "Sensing Light" came on, I heard a little "click," and the dryer would not start. According to the very helpful Appliance Parts Pros. videos, I was able to dismantle, diagnose a few components, and discover the broken part. In this case, it was a Broken Belt Switch. Cleaned exhaust duct, but only from the dryer/laundry room side. Replaced thermal fuse. Unit worked for about two loads and thermal fuse blew again.
