No ice no water no nothing Beverly H. • Corinth , TX • November 15, 2014
After doing all the tests to determine the problem it turned out that it was likely the motor in the ice maker. Rather than fix the immediate problem with a new motor and for just a few dollars more since they're prone to failure anyway, I eliminated potentially future problems by just replacing the whole ice maker. Money well spent and my part arrived the day after I ordered it.

The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It plays a crucial role in supplying water to the refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser. This valve opens and closes to allow water to flow into the appliance as needed, ensuring that you have access to fresh ice and cold water whenever you need it.
Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve include:
- The refrigerator’s ice maker not producing ice or producing very small or malformed ice cubes.
- No water being dispensed, or the water dispenser running slowly.
- Leaking water from the valve area, which may indicate a crack or failure in the valve itself.
Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral build-up from hard water, which can block the flow or cause the valve to stick open or closed; wear and tear over time that affects the valve’s ability to function properly; or electrical failures that prevent the valve from receiving the signal to open or close.
This OEM part is compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Water line from solenoid valve to filter was cracked and leaking Will M. • Littleton , CO • March 18, 2018
Replaced the water line and water supply solenoid valve (slight weeping at valve body also). This is a 3 year old whirlpool refrigerator, model WRX988SIBM00. A crack in the water line after only 3 years is a poor design. My intent was to replace the entire water line from the valve to the filter. But I could not remove the interior top trim piece to access the filter connection. I did not want to force the trim piece to hard and break it. So what I did was install a new water line at the...

The icemaker water inlet valve wouldn't close properly so water was constantly leaking into the refrigerator Ronald W. • Sagaponack , NY • September 10, 2016
I replaced the water inlet valve. The toughest part was closing off the feed line while I waited for the valve to be delivered. The needle valve used to install the feed line wouldn't close completely. I ended up fabricating a plug from some parts from the hardware store.
The mounting bracket on the new valve was completely different from the original, but it still mounted easily enough. The 1/4" plastic hose fitting was a different type from the original, but the hose fitted into it easily...

In door ice maker inop John L. • Holly Hill , FL • September 22, 2020
Replaced both inlet valves, no joy. Upon further inspection, found ice maker harness extremely tight at lower freezer door hinge, clamped in place right at a pivot point. Essentially the harness is held in place and rotates with the door. 6 wires broken inside. Splice repair and ice maker now works. Most likely will have to replace harness eventually. Unless there is more slack inside the freezer door this will probably happen again. Very poor design.
