Oven won't heat properly or overheats? A faulty temperature sensor may be the cause. Simple 15-minute DIY repair with basic tools and our video guide.
I have a Whirlpool RBS245PDQ12 wall mount oven. Gathering information from AppliancePartsPros.com resulted in two possibilities: The Thermal Switch or the Control Panel. Talking with Appliance Parts Pros led to testing the Oven Temperature Sensor. It's supposed to test at 1080 Ohms at 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Mine tested at 960 Ohms so I knew it was bad... I found the service manual on the top of the Oven on the left behind the control panel. It has values for testing (Ohms of resistance)... Read more
Broiler not heating or only outer ring works? This broil element provides high heat for even browning. Easy DIY fix—disconnect power and test continuity.
DISCONNECT CIRCUIT BREAKER!!!. Remove oven door. Remove two screws that attach the element to the back of the oven, and two screws that secure element to the oven roof, then remove element. Had to be careful that the four wires don't slip into the back of the oven (difficult) to keep them from falling back as they are very short. Remove and replace element. I should have also detached the temp probe as it gets in the way and is easily broken off its flimsy mounting plate. The hardest part is... Read more
Burned or damaged terminal block causing power loss? This connection point fixes arcing, sparking, and burnt wire issues. DIY repair with basic tools.
I determined the hidden bake element below the oven cavity was not working, because the bottom of the oven was cold during normal use. If you have a built-in microwave + oven combination (mine is KitchenAid Model No. KEMS308SSS05), this is a difficult repair. The engineer who designed this oven should be invited to succeed elsewhere. It is impossible to access the bake element from the inside of the oven, so the How To video associated with this part will not help you. I had to remove the... Read more
Oven not reaching temperature or taking too long to preheat? A failed bake element is often the cause. Moderate DIY repair, 1-2 hours with rear access.
Illuminates the microwave interior for visibility during cooking. Replace when burnt out or dim. Confirm fit with your model number before ordering.
Removed the Microwave from the wall, then had to almost completely disassemble the sheet metal surrounding the microwave unit itself. Lots of screws and wires to work around. Takes 2 people to remove the microwave and set it on a stand outside of the wall unit. Once you get to the light bulb, the replacement is easy, just very challenging to get to the light bulb. Replace your microwave's broken or cracked glass turntable tray. This circular rotating plate sits on the cavity floor to hold food during cooking.
Replaced it. It took over 4 months to get the part due to a lack of inventory. I initially ordered from another supplier who after several months sent an incorrect part. Shifted to AppliancePartsPros. They confirmed the inventory shortage and gave me a two-month delivery estimate. About a month into the wait, they provided an update. The next update was noticed. That the part had arrived and was being shipped. Part arrived on time. Correct part, well packed, took about a minute to unpack... Read more

Broken heating element bracket in your microwave? This ceramic support secures the upper element for even heating. Simple twist-lock install in seconds.
While cleaning the microwave, I accidentally dislodged the porcelain bracket. It shattered when it fell to the floor. I inserted the tab of the replacement bracket into the punched opening at a right angle, then rotated it to lock it in. The fix was simple and only took seconds to complete. Read more
Microwave won't start or shows door error? This door switch signals when the door is closed so power flows to the magnetron. Moderate DIY repair, 30-45 min.
I'm a 56 year old divorced woman. I started doing these kinds of repairs to save some money and honestly, to see if I could. So yes, if I can do it, it's not that tough to do. My microwave is built in above the stove - getting it down and back up was the hardest part of the job. An extra pair of strong hands really helps-for anybody, not just a 56 year old woman. The actual repair was pretty easy. Most likely problem was pretty obvious after a little research. Easy to take off cover, get... Read more
Microwave not heating but runs normally? The magnetron generates microwave energy for cooking. Moderately difficult repair requiring careful handling.
Replaced Inverter and two control boards but the magnetron was the real problem. Had a hold burned through the element. Read more

One would think replacement appliance light bulbs would be a staple In Service departments of appliance stores, not so. I decided to travel to several local parts and service departments to pick up six of the little bulbs. Guess what? no one had them in stock! Time, energy spent - mission NOT accomplished. Once again, I turned to AppliancePartsPro.com. Et voila! They bulbs were in stock AND arrived the next day! YEA! Fast, simple service. Instant Success! Who could ask for anything more? Read more
Support ring sits beneath the glass turntable and allows smooth rotation during cooking. Replace if cracked, worn, or causing tray wobble or binding.
I removed the Shaft by just pulling up on it. I noticed the flat sided hole on the bottom of the Shaft was damaged and a small piece of it was missing. By using a mirror and a pair of tweezers, I was able to remove the small broken off piece of plastic from the hole in the middle of the bottom of the oven. The Shaft still would not turn the plate because of the damage. I ordered the new part and installed it, and everything now works fine. I decided to replace the Ring as well because the... Read more
Heating element not working? This mounting screw securely fastens the heating element in place. A simple DIY repair that takes about 20 minutes to complete.
We ordered the part and one extra screw(which we didn't end up using). If possible take door off your oven for easy access and have lighting source to see well. Taking part out was easy. Putting back in was more difficult because you have to match up two layers of parts in our oven. The broiler coil and the broiler shield above it. We used small craft clothes pins to keep wires from going behind the built in oven. We used a small diameter screw driver to match up holes before putting... Read more
Replacement mounting screw for securing components and housings in place. Order a new screw if yours is stripped, missing, or damaged during repairs.
One day my wife went to bake something and the bake/broil buttons as well as #3, #9, and oven light ceased to work. Local repair guy came by and wanted to charge $500 to fix it....YEAH RIGHT! Did a little homework and found this website, spoke with knowledgable staff who pointed me in the right direction. Took me all of about 20 minutes to install new control panel..everything works perfect...THANKS! p.s. In doing my research come to find Maytag did little to insulate control panel from oven...
