Fixed it by replacing the electronic control board. Only 30 min. to fix. (See further down for effort to diagnose the problem.) I have used this freezer for ~ 10 years with no problems. We have noticed that frost started forming inside the freezer, so after research, the first step was to replace the gasket around the door. I ordered the part and replaced it, which took about 45 minutes. To replace, I would recommend unscrewing the screws around the existing gasket BUT DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREWS as that will take extra work. I unplugged the freezer, removed the old control board by prying it out with my hands and then pressed in the new control board with my hands. The freezer functioned normally after it was plugged into the wall outlet again. Someone with large hands or short fingernails might benefit from the use of a straight blade screwdriver while prying out the broken control board. Read more

I ordered a replacement handle and screws. The process was very easy with the help of one of your "pros" who found all the parts needed and took my order. I didn't realize I was getting both a refrigerator door handle and a freezer door handle in one set, but now we have the freezer handle if we need it.
