Drum would not rotate intermittently. Robert L. • Cary , NC • May 24, 2019
The Dryer is 10 years old GE Front Load DPVH890JEMG. The drum would intermittently not rotate at the beginning of a cycle and occasionally would rotate but then start and stop throughout the cycle. I did not check error codes, but the windings on the motor were black. So it seemed reasonable that the motor was overheating and sending a signal to the control board to stop. There is one screw under the knob and 9 screws on the front to get inside. I decided to replace the bearings, capacitor,...

The start button broke?!? I ordered another start button and it looked exactly like the one I had. I figured it would break as well, so I might as well try to fix the broken one.
I unplugged the power, removed the back of the dryer console, disconnected the start switch from the button and the dryer, depressed the 3 pop out tabs to remove the button from the dryer.
I put the switch back in place and reinstalled the back.
I clipped off the 3 projections that kept the button from being...

The dryer is leaving marks on clothes. Thomas G. • Dillsburg , PA • October 23, 2023
Dryer was leaving marks on clothes. Watched a video on youtube about 5 reasons why that might be happening. I did have a broken baffle on the inside of the drum that maybe was pinching the clothes as it turned. When I took the dryer a top and front off to inspect the other issues and take of the broken baffle I noticed the drum slides seemed worn as the youtube video also mentioned could be a reason. So I replaced those and so far no more marks! I did call AppliancePartsPros.com and talked...

The dryer door kept popping open. Debra S. • Peabody , MA • September 22, 2019
We ordered a door switch, dryer latch and strike plate. We realized that we only needed to replace the door switch. We watched a few videos and then replaced the switch. We couldn’t find a video for our model but they did give us a pretty good idea about what we needed to do. The hardest part was getting the original door switch out, all of the videos we watched showed us that it would pop out with a little pressure from a flat head screw driver, from the front of the switch. We could not get...

No heat in gas dryer Peter S. • Glenview , IL • April 23, 2024
Realizing that there could be multiple reasons for a gas dryer failing to heat, I decided to test everything I could. The very detailed and product specific video showed me how to disassemble the dryer. The thermostat, cycling thermostat, high limit, flame detector, igniter, gas valve coils and timer all showed correct continuity or resistance. I thought it might be the gas valve itself, but felt that wasn't likely so I decided to go ahead and replace the thermostats and limit switch since...
