Ordered this part for my KA SS microwave and it was a perfect match. Removing the old cover was not that easy. It snaps in tight and I did not want to damage the SS top. The two fixed tabs go toward the back of the microwave and the two tabs with pinch pins go toward the door. Support ring sits beneath the glass turntable and allows smooth rotation during cooking. Replace if cracked, worn, or causing tray wobble or binding.
I removed the Shaft by just pulling up on it. I noticed the flat sided hole on the bottom of the Shaft was damaged and a small piece of it was missing. By using a mirror and a pair of tweezers, I was able to remove the small broken off piece of plastic from the hole in the middle of the bottom of the oven. Replacing a magnetron in my particular 9-year-old microwave (a microwave/hood combination) was not a simple “plug & play” operation. That is why I am placing this in the slightly difficult area. I ordered a new magnetron and a new capacitor and after they arrived I set to work. I took plenty of pictures with my phone to remind me how the components came apart but it was pretty straight forward. Once the new parts were in and everything was reassembled the microwave worked good as new. The repair was less than a third the cost of replacement and no special tools are required. Turned oven up on it side to get to bottom and removed bottom cover(5 screws), then 2 screws holding the small motor in place. Extracted the bad coupling that connects the motor to the hub that turns the turntable. Inserted the new coupling, remounted the motor, then installed the bottom cover, turned oven back upright, plugged it in and turntable operates normally. Read more
