Would not turn on Pat T. • Coeur D'alene , ID • December 13, 2015
I replaced the Board-Phas and speed control plate since power was not making it to the motor. When I received the speed control plate it had nuts on the upper screws with springs, since my old one didn't have nuts I assumed that the nuts were to keep the springs on until installed. After putting it back together, I noticed that though it worked, the first two settings did nothing. Now, guys, I was desperate, OK. I downloaded the service manual and read it from front to back, and when I got to...

The kitchenaid mixer i was asked to fix would turn on but the mixer would not spin sounded mechanical to me Leo S. • Buffalo , NY • November 19, 2024
You Tube is my friend…..I looked up common issues with the KitchenAid mixers, and saw how to take it apart with “ease” - discovered the broken plastic worm gear; Appliance Parts Pros had a great part breakdown and I was able to locate and order the replacement gear (I bought some washers as well but was able to re-use the existing ones) within about 10 minutes. Received the parts in about 3 days and put it all back together successfully - a refurbished wedding present for a friends’s kid that...

Worm gear failure on my KitchenAid 5 qt "professional" lift bowl mixer. Edward B. • Mount Horeb , WI • January 24, 2020
This was a problem that I'd had previously with this mixer. The worm gear, which is designed to fail (so that more serious damage does not occur to the motor), did fail while I was mixing some multi-grain bread dough. After the previous failure (pre-youtube days), I took the machine in for repair. The repair-shop cost came to about $150 in labor. Parts were extra. This time, I decided to do the repair myself, since I figured that I knew what was wrong. I found the appliancepartspros...

Stripped center gear Shannon R. • Clay Center , KS • June 22, 2018
Replaced the center gear and since they sent the hub along I replaced that too just to be safe. Used the live chat before ordering to make sure I was ordering the correct part. The person I chatted with was very nice and very helpful and parts came in good shape, and just as ordered. Replaced the stripped gear the next day and added a bunch of grease and the mixer works like new. Was very impressed with their diagrams and helpful videos as well as their large selection of parts. The other...

Planetary was damaged when one screw came lose and was shaved to bits Tom A. • Allentown , PA • November 09, 2014
Removed the old planetary and cleaned metal shavings from gears. Transferred the old axle/gear assembly onto the new planetary. Inserted the new (and expensive) screw for the main gear and torqued it very tight (as well as the original other four screws). Slid the new planetary gears together and re-inserted the holding pin. Tapped on the cover ring and was done.

20 +year maintenance Michael L. • Santa Ana , CA • December 26, 2015
Checked out You tube video. Easy tune up. One gasket was damaged and I did not notice that the brush holders has no brushes. I believe a quick call to Appliance parts pros will fix this, besides I need a few more parts. I expect to get another 20+ years from this KitchenAide mixer, once repairs are competed. Watch out for the single lock washer located on the rear upper housing screw, you don't want to lose this!
