Fix loud rattling or thumping noises in your dryer with a new blower wheel. Common repair when the fan hub breaks or spins freely on the motor shaft.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Noisy bumping sound.   Mary S. • Porter , TX • February 15, 2019

Blower wheel and clamp replacement. Initially, we replaced both the belt and drum roller wheels but that did not stop the noise. By reviewing videos on YouTube and AppliancePartsPros, we suspected that the blower wheel could be problematic, even though with front panel of dryer off, we did not see any visual clues to support that theory. Purchased the replacement clamp as well, just for good measure (and it was inexpensive). Note: we did call AppliancePartsPros with our model AND serial numbers... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The dryer was making a lot of noise like metal against metal thought it might be the bearings in the support wheels   Jane S. • Lynnwood , WA • November 01, 2014

I took the dryer apart.....first had to clean out all the lint here and there. Took the drum out, inspected the belt and back support wheels. They seemed to be fine. In the front the drum turns on two supports that have a Teflon glide. Those two glides had been worn off with their pad so metal was rubbing against metal. Went online to appliancepartspros.com and looked up on the schematic what parts I needed. I also had called around locally and the same parts cost twice as much....so I... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water dispenser was no longer working   Kelly W. • Houston , TX • January 24, 2017

After being told by a service repairman that it would cost me close to $200 to repair, I resolved to just not use the dispenser. After about a year, I had decided that I wanted to repair it and would look at the options myself. At the least, I could figure out which parts were needed to repair it and have them on hand for a service guy if I determined I could not do the job myself. The more I studied it, the more I felt confident that I could do it, and sure enough, when the part arrived - a... Read more

I took the machine apart and installed a new brake rotor , Brake stator and a snubber ring, after the install the machine works great and no more squeaking. Replaced the control board after removing the inner door liner, plastice board cover and board itself, by removing screws, working various plastic clips/tabs and unclipping wire harnesses from board. most of time was spent cleaning the black soot from the door, which had a terrible burnt electrical/plastic fire smell. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Our Maytag gas dryer was not producing heat— specifically it was cycling off after initially lighting   Timothy E. • Bellvue , CO • September 15, 2019

When I pulled out the dryer from the wall, I could see dust/lint had accumulated everywhere and the vent system was compromised. I vacuumed up the dust/lint accumulation outside and then inside the vent system. I then opened the lower cabinet to clean and check its condition. I removed the water steamer bottle and its sub-assembly and then the drum. After cleaning and inspecting components — both visually and with a multi-meter I determined the problem was the appliance doing what it was... Read more
