Old Maytag washer rust on lid edges Ulf N. • Swampscott , MA • October 05, 2019
Removed lid sanded down all rust spots, taped over the printed instructions on the inside of the lid, washed with alcohol and spray painted with appliance white epoxy paint. Replaced the plastic hinge-balls and one of the lid support/bumper grommet. It was actually easier to install the lid than removing it; used a small amount of grease to hold both balls in place, by holding the lid vertical and placing the left side to the inserted ball and then pushing the right side down. The lid slides...

Pretty much everything Charlotteanne Y. • Kingston , IL • August 06, 2018
Here's the story. All my appliances except the dryer broke. Yeah. talk about bad luck. First I tried to fix the refrigerator. Replaced both motherboard and inverter board. Now it wakes up but the compressor does not kick in. Need another part. The washer, well I have to pull out the sink to get enough room to pull out the washer to fix it. Since the refriigerator is still in the middle of the kitchen, I don't need to tear apart another room. Nevertheless, let me say this, I love my "older"...

Washer won't advance through cycles or gets stuck in one mode? Replace the timer to restore proper wash, rinse, and spin sequencing. 15-30 minute repair.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Broken timer washing machine would not cycle got stuck on agitate John S. • Westminster , CO • September 22, 2015
After the timer quit we had one more load to do so we ran each cycle manually, advancing the timer by hand through the pre-soak, wash, rinse, spin cycles. That told us there were no problems with the other switches. Pulled the back off the control assembly and it was no big deal to get the old timer out. I suggest doing that before you order and comparing the part you are replacing to the images shown online (since there are two timer versions for this model) to make sure you get the right...

Sometimes the washer wouldn't start the wash cycle when the fill cycle was done it would just sit until the lid was picked up or bumped Eugene N. • Roswell , NM • August 28, 2016
The lid shut-off switch is located behind the lid How About That. I order the plastic ball the hold the lid in place plus the lid shut off switch. I watched the video that AppliancePartsPros.com has on how to replace the lid and the plastic balls. I removed the lid to get to the two philips head screws to remove that part of the shut-off switch. I took the new switch out of the package and compared it to the old switch. I assembled the switch just like the old switch look using the new...
