This repair was on a GE glass Cooktop range. This range has two indicator lights, a Burner On light, and a Hot Cooktop Light. The problem I was having was, the Hot Cooktop stayed on all the time (24x7), even when the cooktop surface had been off for hours and was cold. YouTubes that I viewed were all misleading on this symptom. They all pointed to the switch, which is the fix for the Burner Light staying on, not the Hot Cooktop Light staying on. I figured it out by going to the schematic.... Read more

Second repair after 10 years of service - igniter had cracked and spill overs were causing the others to misfire. This was a two-step process. I took apart the cooktop to see what parts were neded. Screws were all rusted, I had to drill ome out. The burner gaskets broke during the process and needed replacement. One of the burners had deformed due to excess heat. After that initial diagnose, I reassembled the cooktop without the igniters and ordered all the parts I needed. The second stage was... Read more

My cooktop repair was a total success from start to finish. I reviewed and later followed the APP repair video, which helped me decide if I wanted to tackle the repairs and guided me right before I started. The APP phone staff member was very helpful verifying the parts I had identified online using the model number of my older GE Profile cooktop to locate and view the correct online exploded view diagram. This 10-32 machine screw secures brackets, panels, and other hardware in cooking appliances. Replacing a missing or stripped screw restores a snug, rattle-free fit and keeps components aligned and safely fastened. What it does:
All of the information on the web repair sites said "replace the hinges as the springs are worn out." Didn't fix the problem. The top of the door still wouldn't seal, and the. Leaning latch wouldn't catch the door unless you pressed on the door. The inside panel of the door was fatigued. Too many turkeys were set on the door over the years. This is a genuine OEM replacement nut that is used on convection oven fans. This nut holds the fan onto the spindle. If the nut becomes lost during repairs to the fan, it will need to be replaced before the fan will work. This nut locks the fan to the spindle to turn and move the air around inside the oven. The fan helps the food to cook more evenly and reduces areas in the oven that are not cool enough or hot enough. If the fan is not working, the convection oven will not cook correctly.Convection ovens are different from regular ovens, and the fan is part of the reason. Convection ovens use the fan and an exhaust system to move the heat around inside the oven to cook food more evenly and faster. Many convection ovens have a setting that allows the oven to be used as a regular oven. If the nut is missing and the fan is inoperable, the oven can be used for regular cooking if it has this feature. Otherwise, the convection oven should not be used until the nut is replaced. This nut is a silver metal replacement part that is sold individually. It is designed for use in convection ovens made by GE and Kenmore.
I took the cover off and the fan had separated from the bushing. Ordered a new fan and nut and it took all of 5 minutes to replace.
