I put this repair off for a long time because I knew the machine would have to be completely torn down to fix it. The repair videos give you the impression that this condition is caused by a bad 'Tub Bearing' which takes a long time to replace but only costs about $15. After researching the problem on this site, I realized that the most likely cause was a bad bearing contained in the shaft & tube assembly. Essentially, the tub seal failed & allowed water to travel down the shaft & into the housing containing the bearing. I confirmed this by pulling the front cover off of the unit & noticed some brown water pooled directly under the shaft & tube assembly. I had never worked on a washing machine before but after watching the online videos I felt like I could do the repair. I was almost positive it was the Mode Shifter and Shaft Assembly that was bad. I could hear the bearing making a grinding noise when I turned the tub by hand. I ordered the part I needed plus additional parts that could be an issue later such as a drive belt, tub bearing, tub seal, tub nut, split ring, etc; Preventive maintenance that would keep from having to tear it all... My 9-year-old GE washer, in which I replaced the motor two years ago, developed an extremely loud roaring sound during the spin cycle. I ordered a new pump on this website. They provided me with written directions as well as a video to follow along with on how to change the pump. As always it wasn't as easy as the video, but that was the mechanic no the tool! Great job on the service. Will order parts from here again. Read more

I replaced the water level switch and hose. After removing the hose, I found that it was clogged, and did not allow the water level to be sensed by the switch. A test after the replacement of the parts was successful. While filling the tub, the water shut off at the small, medium, and large levels as indicated by the switch. Read more

All I had to do was remove 3, 1/4" screws from the back and take the front off. Two 5/16th screws hold the circuit board in place, remove them and press the button into the hole from the back. Replace the circuit board, slide the front back on and install the three 1/4" screws. Always unplug the washer first! Read more

The video was very helpful. the hardest part is getting off old rusted parts. I had to use a hacksaw to remove one of the old clamps. I had to open the bottom of the washing machine to remove of the other clamp. Putting the new parts on was easy. Getting everything apart was a challenge. Putting the new parts on was an easy 5 minute job. Read more

Replaced solenoid valve. Repair summary: Turn off H/C water supply, disconnect hoses. Unscrew 3 screws rear of main panel. Slide front panel laterally then pull up to remove. Unscrew 2 screws on solenoid valve part. Disconnect spade electrical connectors and remove defective part. Insert new part and do everything I just said in reverse.
