Microwave door won't stay closed or pops open during use? This door latch hook secures the door properly. Simple DIY fix, takes under 5 minutes to install.
This was much easier than expected. I called Appliance Parts Pros with my model # and you told me what part I needed. It was shipped the same day and arrived the next day. I removed the inner door trim with a table knife ( don't rush this or you might crack the trim ). I then unhooked the old door latch disconnected the spring from the door hooked on the spring from the new latch and clipped in the latch to the door. Final step was to reattach the door trim. It was very easy and all I used... Read more

Microwave not heating food? A faulty high voltage diode disrupts power conversion. Common DIY repair requiring discharge safety and multimeter testing.
After dismounting the unit from its wall-hanging bracket, the most tedious part of the repair was removing over a dozen screws holding the cover in place from the top, bottom, and both sides. Fortunately, I had placed the unit on a bench that allowed me to slide the unit allowing access to the screws on the bottom edges of the unit. Always discharge the capacitor before continuing to work on the unit by discharging the capacitor by shorting the contact without the diode to ground. Access to the... Read more
Fix a microwave that won't start or runs with the door open. This door interlock switch is a common DIY repair taking 15-30 minutes with basic tools.
Checked the three door switches; used ohm meter to see if there was resistance or if a switch was bad. 2 out of 3 switches showed resistance with the ohm meter. The last one tested (of course the last one) NO (normally open) did not show resistance; I.e. the ohm meter reading did not change when the switch was depressed. Appliance parts pros was the only company that had the same model number I was looking for (SZW-V16-FD-63). I ordered the relay switch, 2 days later it arrived (regular... Read more
Microwave won't start or keeps running with door open? This door latch and switch assembly restores safe operation. Moderate DIY repair (1-2 hours).
I did some searching on the internet to see if others had the same issue I was having. There were many who had the same problem and everyone of them fixed it by changing out the latch switches, which in my case, were part of the latch body assembly. So I ordered the part from AppliancePartPros and it arrived on Tuesday, 2 business days after I ordered it, which was just as expected. I had also done some research regarding how to replace the latch body assembly and, although I couldn't find... Read more

Then I checked on line and found the parts on AppliancepartsPros.com and read the reviews from other owners about how simple this repair was. I ordered the parts, they were delivered within 2 days. The repair could not have been easier. I used a table knife to remove the plastic inner door, replaced the broken latch, snapped the plastic inner door back in... Read more
Microwave won't power on or turn on? Failed thermostat causes complete power loss. This safety part protects against overheating. DIY repair in 30 minutes.
I attempted to diagnose the four thermostats/thermal switches in the microwave....two right behind the control panel, one on top of the cooking cabin, and one under a metal shroud above the magnetron. While checking continuity with a voltmeter, i questioned one of them behind the control panel and the one above the magnetron. I then noticed a burn mark on the plastic connector sleeve for the one above the magnetron. I took a scrap piece of 14 gage copper wire and beat the ends flat with a... Read more

Order the new parts from AppliancePartsPro.com during the Thanksgiving week. Still received via FedEx in short time due to their same day shipping - which was greatly appreciated and surprising. Fix a microwave that runs but won't heat with this high voltage diode. Converts AC to DC power for proper heating. Typical DIY repair in under 2 hours.
I am not an appliance repair man. I am a general surgeon. I went online and researched the problem. The consensus was that my magnetron and diode were the most likely culprits. To replace my microwave with a comparable model would have cost at least $800. The diode and magnetron cost around $170. I watched a few videos on YouTube demonstrating how to do the repair safely and I felt like I could do it. I ordered the parts on a Monday evening and had them Wednesday. The only difficult part of... Read more
