Condenser Fan Motor
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR60X187

The Condenser Fan Motor is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It is designed to circulate air through the condenser coils, helping to dissipate heat and keep the refrigerator's internal components cool. This ensures efficient operation and prevents the compressor from overheating, which is essential for maintaining the refrigerator's performance and longevity.

You should replace the condenser fan motor if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad fan motor can include electrical failures, wear and tear from regular use, or blockages that cause the motor to overheat or burn out. A malfunctioning fan motor can lead to inadequate cooling, increased energy consumption, and potential damage to other refrigerator components.

Symptoms of a bad condenser fan motor include:

  • The refrigerator not cooling properly
  • Unusual noises coming from the back of the refrigerator
  • The compressor running hot or cycling on and off frequently
  • The condenser coils feeling excessively hot

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • Freezer section too warm
  • Noisy
  • Fridge too warm

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Side by side fridge had stopped cooling in both fridge and freezer and was hot to touch in center between the two   Robert P. • King , NC • August 11, 2015

I googled the issue and read several articles. Most started with cleaning the coils (which mine are on the bottom) (19yr old Kenmore 363.9557812). I had not really ever cleaned them well, vacuuming did little. I had to remove the cardboard cover off the back of the frig, and blew them clean (front to back). Once that was done, I started cleaning from the back and noticed the fan wasn't turning week (condensor fan). Blew it out too, have it a good soon with a pencil, it puffed out a bunch of... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken fan blade   Thomas H. • West Blocton , AL • April 21, 2014

I used a set of ring pliers to remove the old retaining ring, then spread the plastic ribs around the fan motor shaft with a small flat bladed screwdriver to ease removal of the old fan blade. I reversed the process to replace the blade, gently tapping a socket from my socket wrench set placed over the motor shaft and ribs with a small rubber mallet. I stopped when the shaft protruded about 1/8" beyond the plastic ribs of the new fan blade, then installed the new retaining clamp ring with the... Read more

Door Closure Spring
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR1X2027

The Door Closure Spring is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It provides balanced tension to assist the door hinges and latch mechanism in securely closing the refrigerator door. The spring helps the door shut fully while preventing it from slamming closed abruptly.

  • Difficulty closing the door fully without assistance
  • Increased thermal loss as the door does not seal tightly
  • Risk of food items falling out from an open door position

Causes of failure include metal fatigue from prolonged use. Springs can also weaken from mineral buildup over many years of repeated openings and closings.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice maker would not dispense ice and chute/container would frost over   Theo S. • Tallahassee , FL • October 01, 2014

When diagnosing the problem, I discovered that the ice door was not properly sealing and that the solenoid had appeared to rust/corrode forcing the door open. I replaced most of the ice dispenser internals (solenoid, crank, door, and spring) following the video. The door will now open when dispensing ice (which it does!), and will oddly stay open for a few seconds once I am finished, but does seal properly and the chute/container no longer frosts over. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Yes ice was not coming out of the dispenser   Jason S. • Goose Creek , SC • December 02, 2014

I replaced the solenoid, door, spring and bucket. The bucket cracked from ice freezing inside it. Ice froze inside the bucket because the solenoid stopped pulling the door closed which allowed hot humid air into the freezer. While I was in there I replaced the dispenser door, spring and crank because they are cheap and the old ones were moldy.
