Part Number: WR51X10029

The Defrost Heater Assembly is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This component is crucial for preventing frost buildup on the evaporator coils by periodically melting any ice that accumulates. It ensures that the refrigerator operates efficiently and maintains the proper temperature.

Causes of a bad defrost heater assembly can include electrical failures, wear and tear over time, or damage to the heater element. Continuous cycling of the heater can also lead to deterioration of its components.

Symptoms of a bad defrost heater assembly include:

  • Frost buildup on the evaporator coils
  • The refrigerator not maintaining a consistent temperature
  • Increased energy consumption
  • The refrigerator running continuously or for extended periods

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fresh foods section was not cooling but freezer was cold   Cynthia B. • Loganville , GA • January 19, 2018

After reviewing a number of testimonials and your videos from your APP.com site I determined my most likely problem was either the defrost heater, thermostat, timer or possibly all three. The real challenge now began. Getting to the specific parts with my specific model number was a real challenge. It was not as easy as removing the light guard and 5 screws since my model had two Track Cant Shelf vertical rails restricting the removal of the back panel. Also, these rails could not be removed... Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR60X187

The Condenser Fan Motor is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It is designed to circulate air through the condenser coils, helping to dissipate heat and keep the refrigerator's internal components cool. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Side by side fridge had stopped cooling in both fridge and freezer and was hot to touch in center between the two   Robert P. • King , NC • August 11, 2015

I googled the issue and read several articles. Most started with cleaning the coils (which mine are on the bottom) (19yr old Kenmore 363.9557812). I had not really ever cleaned them well, vacuuming did little. I had to remove the cardboard cover off the back of the frig, and blew them clean (front to back). Once that was done, I started cleaning from the back and noticed the fan wasn't turning week (condensor fan). Blew it out too, have it a good soon with a pencil, it puffed out a bunch of... I used a set of ring pliers to remove the old retaining ring, then spread the plastic ribs around the fan motor shaft with a small flat bladed screwdriver to ease removal of the old fan blade. I reversed the process to replace the blade, gently tapping a socket from my socket wrench set placed over the motor shaft and ribs with a small rubber mallet. I stopped when the shaft protruded about 1/8" beyond the plastic ribs of the new fan blade, then installed the new retaining clamp ring with the... Read more

Dust Cap
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR02X10322

This evaporator fan motor dust cap is an authentic OEM replacement part found on refrigerator and freezer fan motors. This dust cap prevents the fan motor bearing and housing from being damaged by dirt and debris. If the dust cap is cracked or broken, the fan may make loud squealing noises. If the dust cap is not removed and replaced, the fan could stop working and ultimately cause the refrigerator's temperature to be affected. To start, disconnect the power and water to the refrigerator. Remove food from the freezer so that the back panel of the freezer can be accessed to reach the fan. Remove the ice maker and set it outside the freezer. Disconnect the fan and take it out of the freezer to expose the fan's shaft and the dust cover. Pry the dust cover off and install the new one. Replace the fan and cover. Reconnect the wires and reinstall the icemaker. Put the food back in the freezer. Reconnect the power and water. The evaporator fan motor dust cap is a white plastic part that is sold individually. This dust cover is made for use in refrigerators manufactured by General Electric, Hotpoint, and Kenmore.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice maker would not dispense ice and chute/container would frost over   Theo S. • Tallahassee , FL • October 01, 2014
