Washer not spinning clothes dry? A worn drive hub retainer can prevent proper drum rotation. This part connects the motor to the agitator gear. DIY repair.
I pulled the old washer plate out and then replaced it with the new one. No problems, and working like a new one again. Read more
Fix a washer agitator spinning freely or not turning clothes. This part restores washing action. Moderate DIY—bolt removal can be tricky if worn.
Replaced agitator and washplate bolt and washer. Normally this would have been a 5 min job, however the bolt wouldn't come loose. The teeth on the agitator were worn down and the shaft the bolt screws into would turn with the bolt when trying to loosen it. I had to cut out the agitator using a dremel and hold the shaft in place with a vise grip in order to unscrew the bolt. Once the bolt was out I used WD-40 to help get the agitator off the gears. Job took much longer than normal, but I... Read more
Fix loud spinning noise or slipping agitator issues. This screw secures the basket hub assembly. Single screw sold individually (6 needed).
I had to cut the old agitator out with an oscillating saw in order to access the agitator drive. This is the second Maytag (MVWC 565) I have had to do this to. I first tried removing it by sliding straps under the agitator then then using a jack to pull it loose which did not work either time. One suggestion I have would be to remove debris from tub as you cut in order to prevent it from dropping from the inner tub into the outer tub. Read more
Internal drain hose routes water from the washer tub to the external drain. Replace if cracked, leaking, or damaged from constant use or obstructions.
I had previously replaced the transmission in my two year old Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine. Overall it was in good shape but gets heavy use. That repair was approximately $200 and worked for several months. Recently it began leaking. At first I thought it was the tub-to-shaft seal. I replaced this part but it was still leaking. It turns out it was the simplest of things... The drain hose was not connected very well! I replaced the drain hose ($11 part) and while I was at it I... Read more

Protective cover that encloses the drive belt and motor pulley. Replace yours if cracked, warped, worn through, or missing to shield moving parts.
There was a horrible screeching noise coming from the washer, and upon inspection I found that the retaining nut that attaches the cam to the machine was either improperly tightened to begin with or had worked itself loose causing the cam to wobble and the belt to work down the cam. The cam gear teeth became worn and the belt worked itself half off the cam and cut a hole in the protective plastic screen containing the whole ensemble. I purchased the belt, shield and cam kit. The parts are... Read more

Plastic trim bezel that mounts around the lid lock on your top-load washer's panel. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing to restore a clean finish.
Put in new lid lock. This is my second one in 1 year. Whirlpool suggested I leave it loose so that if somebody did try and force it open, it wouldn't break it. This lid lock has 4 wires and cannot be bypassed. Read more
