This PTC start relay and overload protector assembly mounts on the compressor. It manages compressor start-up and cuts power if overheating occurs. Replacing a failed start device may restore normal cooling and stop repeated clicking from the compressor area.
We replaced the main circuit board and the LED started to work and the condenser fan worked, but all we had were relay clicking sounds, but no cooling. The compressor had become so hot trying to work when the main circuit board was amiss, that it had popped the over temperature sensor on its side. As some one point out, if you remove the PTC+OLP assembly with the capacitor on it, and shake it, you will hear a rattle inside---and that is bad. We ordered a second round of parts from... Read more
This compressor start device kit helps your refrigerator or freezer's compressor start reliably each cooling cycle. Replacing a weak or failed start device can restore cooling performance and stop repetitive clicking or brief humming when the compressor tries to start.
The smell was bad. Burnt wires but smelled like it could be a critter. Saw that the starter relay smoked after a cycle. Ordered the part.(sunday). Part recieved on Monday. Installed in less than ten minutes. Wife was happy. Also the website had a video of how to replace the part. Very satisfied?? Read more
Kit includes relay, overlaod, cover and instructions.Note Due to manufacturer changes part received may appear different than as shown in photo.
I suspected the start-relay and tested it due to the lint plugged condenser coils. The start-relay rattled when shook, a telling sign it is no good due to over heating. I tested the compressor terminals and compared them the results with the Tech Data Sheet found with the unit, to find my compressor was still good. I checked the start capacitor with a capacitor tester, comparing the results with the rating printed on the side of the capacitor and found it to be good. I cleaned the condenser... Read more
This water level pressure switch senses the tub's fill level through an air hose and signals the washer to start or stop filling and advance the cycle. Replacing a faulty switch restores proper fill levels and reliable cycle timing.
I found that turning the water level switch back and forth would activate the machine So I replaced the water level switch and the plastic hose that connected to it. I purchased a clamp in the purchase, but it was the wrong size! There wasn't a clamp used in the original set up, so I installed the switch and hose without it! It was the video instructions and having the correct parts that made that made this a easy repair! Thank You Read more
This water level pressure switch monitors tub water height via air pressure and signals the controls to stop filling and move the cycle forward, helping prevent overfilling or underfilling for accurate load-size operation.

This washer water level pressure switch senses tub fill via air pressure and tells the control when to stop filling and advance. Replacing a failed switch restores accurate water levels to prevent overfilling, underfilling, and cycle stalls.
I replaced the water level switch and hose. After removing the hose, I found that it was clogged, and did not allow the water level to be sensed by the switch. A test after the replacement of the parts was successful. While filling the tub, the water shut off at the small, medium, and large levels as indicated by the switch. Read more
This capacitor stores and releases electrical energy to support the appliance's circuit during startup and operation. Replacing a weakened capacitor can restore reliable performance and reduce humming, hard starting, or stalling in the affected component.
Research question lead to others that had the same issue. Consensus lead to a common repair. Compressor overload switch going bad. After ordering the correct parts, I changed out both the switch and the motor start capacitor just in case. After cleaning the equipment, I then put everything back together. Results were, clicking gone, seems to be quieter operation because of cleaning, more efficient cooling and nerves calmed. Read more
This controller is the appliance's electronic control board. It monitors sensors and manages cooling system operations so temperatures stay stable. Replacing a failed board can restore consistent cooling performance and responsive controls.
This compressor overload is the thermal protector for your refrigerator's compressor. It opens the circuit when the motor overheats or draws excessive current, helping prevent damage and restoring reliable starts when the original protector fails.
Replaced overload switch and start relay with convenient repair set.Video available on website that gave step by step instructions. Followed the video steps for removal and installation.... plugged in the refrigerator compressor started up everything cool in minutes Read more
This starter kit is the compressor start device used on select Frigidaire/Electrolux refrigeration products. It helps the compressor start reliably and protects it from overload, restoring consistent cooling when the original start components are weak, noisy, or failed.
Wake up the morning after a big fourth-of-July cookout to find the refrigerator is running, but not cooling any more. Wife is mad, food is spoiling, and the kitchen is littered with every cooler in the house. No repair person can come by to look at the refrigerator for at least five days. I narrow down the problem to the start relay and I was able to find the exact part on AppliancePartsPros. With two-day shipping, I get the part fast, and the kit came with everything I need (and then... Read more
This PTCR is the compressor's start device for select refrigerators. It helps the compressor start smoothly by momentarily boosting the start winding, then automatically reduces current as the motor reaches speed.
I researched the problem and determined that the only thing that can cause this was compressor bad or not starting. Since it was cold the day before I felt it had to be the starter parts and ordered them. It was also very important to clean the coil which I believe caused the over heating. Read more
This overload protector is a safety device that mounts on the compressor and opens the circuit if overheating or excessive current is detected. Replacing a failed protector can help restore reliable compressor start-up and protect the motor from damage.
Used a muiltimeter to test all parts and ohm'ed out all parts. found out condenser fan motor seized up [open winding in motor] replaced that, and found that also caused the compressor overload and relay to fail, from over heating and over cycling, replaced both parts, powered up the refrigerator retested all electrical parts checked amp reading on all parts under load conditions, works good know, hope to get another 15 years out of this refrigator, its a maytag. over 20 years old. This PTC-style start relay mounts on the compressor and briefly powers the start winding so the compressor can start reliably. Replacing a weak or heat-damaged relay can restore cooling performance and stop repeated clicking from the compressor area.
Ordered compressor overload and relay. Problem was fixed Read more
This compressor overload protects the refrigerator's compressor by interrupting power when it overheats or draws excessive current. Replacing a weak or failed overload can stop repeated click/no-start symptoms and help restore normal cooling performance.
I read alot of blogs about the same similar symptom, but none described by exact problem. I kept reading how the compressor relay would make a click noise or sisal. I also found out the overload switch could cause a like symptom. The end result being that upon removal of the relay, it was discolored and made a rattling noise when shook. The overload switch was heat cracked on the plastic and looked like it had had enough. This was easily accomplished by using the repair mans print out for the... Read more
Kit was recently redesigned by manufacturer. Photo shows older design. Instructions included.
Thawed out the evap/heat exchanger assembly, replaced the overload/relay kit as well as the defrost control board and the fridge was back in business, everything working fine. I'm kicking myself for not ordering these parts earlier. there was a clicking sound coming from the compressor that I ignored which was a huge mistake. Read more
