My problem started with a rusting condition in the ice bin that spiraled out of hand. I took apart the ice bin and all the hardware thinking I could clean it with the suggested baking powder. Plastic parts cleaned up like new, metal parts were pitted. I wire brushed and sanded the parts put it all back together and gave it a try. I initially purchased a door switch, thinking that it would solve the problem. I replaced the switch by removing the top 6 star screws, removing the component cover and removing one of the door switches (using a 3/16 socket) with the new one that I bought but I still had the problem. I ordered a new vario motor and a soap dispenser. I turned off the water and the breaker, disconnected the water line and the power at the front base of the unit, disconnected the drain hose from the garbage dispenser, and pulled out the dishwasher and laid it on a blanket on its face.
