So I ordered the burner and Ithe switch because I wasn't sure what part was defective. I pulled the oven out and I removed the 6 1/4 inch screws on each side of the glass top as well as the 2 Phillips head screws on the back, removing the 2 1/4 screws on the shield on the back gIves you easier access to them, then lifted the glass top up on the front to access the switch and burners. I broke two of the elements in my GE Profile cooktop because I failed miserably at removing the glass top. It pays to do your research, kiddies. All it takes is a Number 10 Torx bit to remove 12 screws holding the glass to the body of the appliance, and it lifts straight up. I was replacing the glass because it broke during my home's construction. Frigidaire Gallery gas dryer from maybe 15 years ago. Based on the fact the the smell was only in the dryer, I concluded it must be the gas valve failing to completely seal when closed. After looking at the insides again, I suppose it is possible that it was a connection near the burner, but that stuff had remained untouched for 10 years so I still think I made a good assumption. You will need a special "star" socket driver for this process. You can find it at any auto parts retailer, I got mine at the AutoZone. First unscrew the 2 "star" screws and unplug the igniter lead from the old burner then plug the igniter lead into the new burner igniter and re-screw the new burner back on the range. It was a very easy swap out process. In the process, I broke one of the screw... this is the hard part of all trying to remove the broken screw. Remember to soak the screws... Read more

First, I just unscrewed all nuts that are holding the frame and all surface elements. Once all parts, surface elements, control switches, are loose from the original glass, I just moved all parts to the new glass. Due to the weight of the glass, all actions have to be done carefully as I broken one corner of the glass couple of years ago when I replaced one of the control switch. Read more

• Little to no heat when baking

Turned off 40 Amp breaker. Removed shelves from oven. Removed two screws in back panel holding element in place. Slowly pulled element free making sure wires stayed attached and not lost in oven insulation. Removed two wires from old element. Attached wires to new element. Pushed wires back into oven rear wall. Reinstalled the previously removed two screws. Turned on breaker. Total time less than 10 minutes. Read more

Simple replacement of the heating element. Found multiple videos on youtube that show how to to do this repair. The cooktop is easily opened by removing 3 screws, but I recommend having a second set of hands when performing the repair because you will have to hold up the glass stove top and unscrew the components.
