Fixes loud banging during spin cycle and excessive vibration. Secures the drum spider assembly. Time-consuming repair (6 hours) but saves replacement costs.
I followed Matt's awesome video from AppliancePartsPros.com to build up my "I can do this" reserves. But here's the story leading up to that point... We purchased our Samsung WF419 on a “Black Friday” special November 2009 expecting to get some good years out of the washer/dryer pair. We don’t run more than 2 or 3 loads a week in the washer, so ours has had relatively little use over the beginning of its anticipated and expected long life-cycle. When the “thumping” started on the spin cycle a... Read more
Secures the door boot gasket on your washer. Replace if seal pops off, leaks occur, or spring wire breaks. Confirm fit with your model number.
Normally, I hire someone to come fix washer or dryer problems as time is limited and if the cost is close or more than the machine, I buy a new one instead. But since we are on shelter-in-place, I figure I could repair it since I have more time on my hands and my brother assured me, it was not hard to do. I took the top panel, door off and then looked online to find a service manual, which allowed me to take the front panel off. My suspected drain hose was the failure mode: the rubber tube... I found a youtube video about replacing the hot water valve in a Samsung washer. It looked pretty easy. I had been very satisfied with an earlier order from AppliancePartsPros.com, so I ordered this part on Sunday after 9PM, standard delivery, hoping to get the part by the end of the week. Prevents water leaks and protects internal components in your washer drum. Replace when you notice leaking or during spider flange repair. Confirm fit.
First indication something was wrong when the washing drum starting to violently bang against the inside of the washer while in spin cycle. Then, when I opened the washer door, a misty smoke came from the inside. With the video from Appliance Parts Pros, disassembly of the washer was no problem. First, I replaced the four shocks on the washer drum. But, after a test run, determined that it was spider arm assembly. Again, the series of instructions made getting to the part fairly easy. The... Replacement mounting bolt for washer counterweights. Secures balance weights to drum assembly. Order when bolt is broken, stripped, or missing.
I took apart the washer to find both of the weight balancers had broken in 2 and were banging around. They had also caused the boot seal to rip. I removed the broken weight balancers and replaced them along with a new boot seal. There was one small spot with the seal wasn't fully attached to the outer drum so I had to take it back apart to fix that minor error on my part. Otherwise, it was a fairly easy fix. Read more

Fix excessive vibration and loud spinning noise in your washer. Balance ring assembly stabilizes the drum during spin cycles. Advanced DIY repair.
With all the bouncing around the shocks appeared to be done in but that was not the issue. The key was the balance ring. It had leaked all the fluid out causing all the beads to clump. This caused the drum to wobble wildly and not spin at speed. Getting to the ring to replace it is not a trivial task and took me several hours. Would have been much easier with help as the drum is quite heavy. The on-line video's are very handy and should be watched before attempting this job to save you a... Read more

Fix water leaks from your washer's drain system. This drain hose assembly channels wastewater properly. Easy DIY repair with back panel removal.
This is an easy fix. Just remove the back panel, remove the hose clamp to pull out the old hose, put the new hose on, make sure the clamp is well centered onto the connection, and return the back panel. Make sure to insert the drain hose into the three plastic guides that prevent the hose from moving around. The Samsung factory did not do this on my original hose, which is why it failed, because it was rubbing against the tub support and it wore a hole into the hose. I am going to complain... Read more
