I opened the cover panel of the control board. I visually checked for burns on the board and verified all connectors were firmly seated. I opened the bottom of the unit, and I saw the service manual in a zip-lock bag. From this manual, I verified that the drain pump resistance is good, the start capacitor is good, and the lid switch is good. I entered diagnostic service mode. Persistent alarms are 4 and 25.Error 4 means Reset Monitor, while Error 25 means Pressure Sensor Dropout. I... Read more
The Washer Shift Actuator is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This component is responsible for transitioning the washer between agitating and spinning modes. This main control board is the washer's central electronic brain, coordinating cycles, motor and valve operation, and safety checks. Replacing a failed board can restore normal starts, fills, agitation/spin, and reliable cycle completion.
GE Washer m/n GTW460ASJ6WW would allow other fill levels, but when set to "super" it would never stop filling. Checked water inlet valve (by initiating a fill and unplugging the unit) to see if the inlet valve was sticking open, that was not the issue. Decided to replace the board even though it is a significant fraction of the cost of a new washer. Local appliance stores didn't have the board but APP did, and of course, they are open 24/7 while my local part stores have decided the weekend is... Read more
The Auger is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It is responsible for agitating and moving the clothes during the wash cycle. The auger is designed to create a gentle and thorough wash by creating a swirling motion that helps to remove dirt and stains from the garments. It ensures that your clothes are properly cleaned and evenly distributed throughout the wash.
Causes of a bad auger can include wear and tear over time, exposure to heavy loads or unbalanced loads that put excessive strain on the auger, or damage due to foreign objects getting stuck or tangled in the mechanism.
Symptoms of a bad auger include:
I looked at videos and read several blogs about my GE GTW460ASJ6WW washer not agitating. They all pointed to changing the Clutch and Washer mode shifter. Pretty easy repair that only took about 15 minutes. The old parts looked ok but changed them anyway. This DID NOT solve the problem. Took a closer examination of the agitator. I could turn the Agitator Base by hand without the drum turning. AHAH, maybe the screw came out? So I tried to get the Auger off to access the 7/16” bolt holding... Read more
The Selector Knob is an OEM replacement part for GE washing machines. Located on the control panel, this knob allows you to select desired wash cycles like normal, delicate or heavy duty.
Causes of a faulty selector knob include wear and tear from repeated twisting motions over many years as well as potential impacts if dropped. Water exposure can also degrade the knob material over time.
Symptoms of a damaged selector knob include:
This genuine GE knob is compatible with select Hotpoint and RCA washers.
Ordered a new timer and knob. The husband was able to fix in about 20 minutes and now works like new. Read more
The Agitator Base Hybrid Assembly is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This part serves as the foundation for the agitator, playing a crucial role in the effective movement and agitation of clothes during the wash cycle.
Common causes for replacing the agitator base hybrid assembly include physical damage, such as cracks or breaks, which can occur from overloading the washer or from foreign objects getting caught during the cycle. Symptoms of a bad agitator base hybrid assembly include:
The Drive Belt is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It connects the motor to the drum, enabling the drum to spin during the wash and spin cycles. This belt is crucial for the proper functioning of the washing machine, ensuring that clothes are thoroughly cleaned and water is effectively extracted.
Over time, the drive belt can wear out or break due to regular use, overloading, or improper tension. These factors can lead to a loss of connection between the motor and the drum, affecting the washer's performance.
Symptoms of a bad drive belt include:
Replaced the lid lock 1st which fixed the lid not closed error but the machine would still not drain or spin. Replaced the control board next and now the machine works as it should. Read more
The Clutch is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This component is essential for engaging the washer’s transmission to facilitate the proper spinning and agitating of the drum during wash cycles.

The Transmission Pulley and Nut is an OEM part for GE washing machines, designed to play a crucial role in the operation of the appliance. This component is directly involved in the movement and control of the washer's drum, translating the motor's power into the spinning and agitation needed for the washing process. The pulley system ensures that the machine operates smoothly, providing the necessary tension and motion to the belt that drives the drum.
Causes of these issues can range from natural wear and tear over time to improper loading of the machine, which can place undue stress on the mechanical components. Regular maintenance, including checking the integrity and alignment of the pulley system, can help prevent these problems.
Symptoms of a faulty Transmission Pulley and Nut include:
Replaced thr motor pulley and transmission pulliey and belt. Read more
The Hub nut is an OEM part for GE washing machines, designed to securely fasten the tub assembly to the drive system of the washer. This component is crucial for the stability and operation of the washing machine's drum, ensuring that it remains properly aligned and attached during the vigorous motion of the wash cycles.
Per the manufacturer due to the high torgue on the hub nut an impact wrench should be used to remove and replace the hub nut. It also rquires a 90 ft lb torque limiting extension WX05X10028 and a 1 5/16th impact socket WX05X10022. You can order these through the links or use ones you already have.
