Drives the drum rotation for even drying. Replace if dryer drum won't turn, makes squealing noises, or clothes stay wet. Confirm fit with your model.
I found a video on Youtube which described dryer drum squeaks as most likely caused by a worn rear drum bearing. I located the model number on the inside lip of the dryer door: Frigidaire Affinity LEQ6000ES2. I googled "frigidaire affinity dryer squeak". I got a link for my friends at AppliancePartsPros.com! I've used Appliance PartsPros 3 times before, so I figured I was in a "one-stop-solution" situation. I ordered a rear drum bearing kit as well as a dryer drum belt (after nearly 7 years... Read more
Supports and allows smooth drum rotation in your dryer. Replace if you hear squealing, grinding, or rattling noises during operation. Verify fit with your model.
Fix a dryer that won't heat or takes too long to dry clothes. This heating element assembly generates warm air to dry your laundry efficiently.
My 12 year old Frigidaire stack on top dryer had been beeping distress messages in some unintelligible code for about a year when it completely stopped producing heat. It also had a long standing issue with delicate fabrics and thin straps or drawstrings getting caught in the drum. After using this site to troubleshoot and viewing the useful how-to videos, I ordered and replaced the heating element, thermal limiter, and felt seals. Based on others' stories, I decided to also replace the rear... Read more
Prevents water leaks between the washer tub and transmission. Replace if you notice water leaking from the base during wash cycles. Verify fit by model.
I put this repair off for a long time because I knew the machine would have to be completely torn down to fix it. The repair videos give you the impression that this condition is caused by a bad 'Tub Bearing' which takes a long time to replace but only costs about $15. Don't be lulled into thinking you can fix this for $15. The 'Tub Bearing' is really only a bushing. The one I removed from my washer looked fine but I replaced it anyways. The real problem here is GE's poor design which allows a... Read more
Supports the inner tub for smooth rotation during wash and spin cycles. Replace if you hear loud grinding noise or see oil stains. Verify fit by model.
After researching the problem on this site, I realized that the most likely cause was a bad bearing contained in the shaft & tube assembly. Essentially, the tub seal failed & allowed water to travel down the shaft & into the housing containing the bearing. I confirmed this by pulling the front cover off of the unit & noticed some brown water pooled directly under the shaft & tube assembly. I followed the disassembly instructions on this site & it wasn't too bad but did take some time as pretty... Read more
Dryer won't heat or shows E64 error? High-limit thermostat cuts power if overheating occurs. Moderate DIY fix with our video guide and instructions.
My appliance repair guy checked out the problem, but the stack washer dryer required the contractor to dismantle the cabinet to allow the repair to occur. So i wanted the parts available for the repair, so we would not have to have the dryer pulled apart in a small space for an extended time i ordered the parts on Friday afternoon and they arrived at my home before noon on Saturday! The contractor and the repairman were able to coordinate the repair on Tuesday morning, and though the... Read more
Replacement tub bearing for top-load washers. Fixes grinding, roaring, or loud humming noises during spin cycles. Verify fit with your model number.
I had never worked on a washing machine before but after watching the online videos I felt like I could do the repair. I was almost positive it was the Mode Shifter and Shaft Assembly that was bad. I could hear the bearing making a grinding noise when I turned the tub by hand. I ordered the part I needed plus additional parts that could be an issue later such as a drive belt, tub bearing, tub seal, tub nut, split ring, etc; Preventive maintenance that would keep from having to tear it all... Fix a washer that won't agitate or has broken fins. This agitator assembly snaps in place in under 5 minutes. Simple DIY repair, no tools required.
Ordered agitator. Removed old agitator by prying up one side of the agitator and then moving the agitator around in a circle while prying up a little at a time because the clips pop off underneath separately and once a few of them come loose the remaining slide off making a clean removal rather than the "jerking-straight-up-and-into-your-face-and-neck-disaster-waiting-to -happen removal". Cleaned salt buildup from using brand name household detergent for the last 4 months (currently in rental... Read more
Dryer won't start or shuts off unexpectedly? A failed thermal limiter is often the cause. This safety fuse prevents overheating. DIY repair in 30-45 minutes.
Recommendations have fun and a bucket to prevent losing parts. First watch the videos, practice disassemble and reassemble the dryer drum. Make certain you have a good screw driver and spatula from kitchen (could not find my putty knife). Secondly, clean and inspect everything, make sure the motor bearing and belt pulleys are in good condition with little or no play. Third after you have confidently disassembled, vacuum cleaned, inspected all the worn parts, grease the motor and pulley,... Read more
Replace your top-load washer drive belt when you hear squealing, see the drum not spinning, or notice wear. Connects motor to drum for wash cycles. Verify fit with your model number.
Replaces broken or worn tub dampening straps that stabilize your washer's inner tub during operation. Restores proper suspension to reduce vibration.
My 9-year-old GE washer, in which I replaced the motor two years ago, developed an extremely loud roaring sound during the spin cycle. After reviewing stories here to pinpoint the problem, I replaced the tub bearing, mode shifter, and tub seal. I also installed a new tub nut, split washer, and belt. This repair involves taking the washer apart in order to get at the tub bearing and mode shifter, which are inconveniently located in the very center of the machine. I bagged labeled all the... Supports the dryer drum for smooth rotation. Replace if your dryer squeals, makes grinding noises, or the drum sags. Verify fit with your model number.
The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Just believe the older models are worth fixing, if at all possible. Frist we had to figure out what parts we would need and if the cost would be worth our time. I went on YouTube: and type in Kenmore dryer not turning on. Watched several videos to narrow down the possible problem. Next step was to... Read more
Washer won't agitate or makes squeaking noise? The agitator coupler transmits motor force to spin clothes. DIY repair in 15 minutes with video guide.
OMG.. I was so excited when I found a simple YOUTUBE video showing me how to fix this agitator myself.. and it was SO SIMPLE! The MEN I know, told me I would need to buy a new machine! I did a simple search for GE AGITATOR REPAIR.. found the video, then did my search for the replacement part - an agitator coupling, which, of course, I found at AppliancePartsPros.com... they shipped it to me within 2 days! And the minute it arrived, I went into my laundry room, and completed my OWN repair in... Read more
