I have a Jennair jjw9630cas double wall oven, and after a few years I noticed that the light would not go out, first in the bottom oven, and then in the top oven. Tested the power to the unit by turning on the cooktop portion and saw that I had power to all of the burners. Turned the selector knob to broil and saw that the top element would heat up. Microwave not heating? A failed high-voltage capacitor prevents the magnetron from working. Requires discharging and wall unit removal to replace.
I ordered the capacitor, diode, and magnetron in hopes that I would be able to complete the repair using the less expensive parts. I first removed the oven from the wall and then I removed the metal housing to access the internal parts. I discharged the capacitor using a pair of insulated needle nose pliers. Then I changed out the diode and the capacitor and reassembled the unit and tested it. It still did not heat so I disassembled the unit again and replaced the magnetron this time.... Read more
