This surface burner valve switch mounts on the gas valve stem and signals the spark module when you turn the knob. Replacing a faulty switch restores consistent clicking and reliable ignition on the affected cooktop burner. What it does:
Turned out the little switches on the knob shaft had corroded and were staying on. There was constant continuity showing with an ohm meter. Replacing the switches was very easy (always disconnect power to the unit before servicing). Replaced faulty rack switch. to do this I had to do the following: 1. Turn off power and gas. 2. Pull out range. 3. Removed a zillion screws on the left cover plate and heat shields. 4. Removed rack switch retaining screw inside oven. 5. Unplugged existing switch and confirmed bad (no continuity). 6. Installed new switch. 7. reverse order steps to complete. Read more
