How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006077 / WP2188917 Ice Auger Motor Shaft

Replaced the auger motor drive shaft with ease! So glad this was the issue and not something bigger with the ice maker. 

We ordered the parts using the parts diagram and reviewed the "how to" video. Though an older part doesn't come apart as easy as the new one used for the video we found the information useful and were able to follow the steps shown. The new parts were easy to put in place and everything worked properly when done. We appreciate the time you have taken to prepare the videos and for your excellent customer service. We will recommend your company to others 

At first I thought the issue was with ice auger itself. Turns out that for some reason the Auger Motor Drive Shaft kept sliding down into the motor far enough to turn, but too far. Order this part. When It arrived it appeared to MOE. Took out two screws with bit driver. Removed old auger drive shaft. Placed thin gasket from old shaft onto new shaft. New shaft seemed about 1/8" longer than original with plastic collar FIXED to it. Dropped it in. Replaced screws. Tested. Works like new. Difficult diagnosis - Super-Easy fix. 

Replaced the bin and drive shaft. The video was really helpful. Ordered the parts they fit and it was a breeze. 

Replaced rod between motor and ice cube auger. Part fit perfect. Thanks 

This part fixed the problem. The top of the auger shaft where it engages with the auger gets worn down and stops engaging as it turns. This new shaft was easy to install and engages great. 

Replaced the old shaft with a new part. It was not as easy as it looked in the video. The old shaft was difficult to remove and then the new shaft did not go in easily. It seems to be working now. 

I went ahead and ordered all new auger system parts. Motor w/moisture seal Auger shaft Sealing washer Now the ice system works great! As a matter of fact, better than ever. Thanks, Mark C 

Original auger drive shaft was stripped out on ice dispenser system. Removed two screws which secured the shaft in operating position, cleaned out some accumulated dirt and ground metal from the powered end, inserted new shaft and seal. Reassembled all dispenser related parts, and turned it on for a trial run. Problem solved! 

Ordered and replaced the auger motor shaft as described on video.
