How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3953640 / 280187 Washer Drain Pump Assembly

I looked up on You Tube to find out how to find out why my washer stopped draining and was thowing a code. I took it apart and found my coin catcher (which I did not know about) was full of coins, plastic beads, wire, hair, and rocks! No wonder why it stopped. Then I looked up Google to find parts for a Maytag Washer and found you. This fix took me 10 minutes to put back together and it works perfectly now!!! AND, I DID IT MYSELF!! AND, I AM A WOMAN!!!! LOVED your video tutorial also. You made it so easy to do it myself. 

We went onto Youtube and found Appliance Parts Pros video on how to empty our water filter from junk. It also told you how to check for possible movement in the plastic blade to the drain pump. We hoped for the best and ran another cycle through the machine after the filter was cleaned out. We got the same code when the unit went to drain so we knew it must be the drain pump( our unit is eleven years, not bad.) The video included how to replace the drain pump as well, which we watched more than once. We decided to buy the part too because it was on sale and the best internet price we could find. Our order did come within two days and it is installed and draining great! The best first d.i.y. project experience with appliances we could of had and a great price on the pocket book, also a bit of an ego boost for my fix-it husband. After trouble shooting what f21 error was. I cleaned all hoses from the tube hose to all discharge hoses. I actually replace the washer discharge hose. I still got the same error. I had a few conversations with your service techs. They gave me great advice each time I called. At the end I had to replace the washer drain pump and pressure switch. we have gone 1 week without errors code so I consider the problem solved. I really like the replacement part videos. I also like the ease of ordering and the speed in whick the parts come. Again a BIG THANK YOU to everyone that help solve this problem. You saved me tons of time and money fixing this problem. I recoomend your company to anyone I hear that has problems with their appliances. 

Replaced the water inlet valve as well as the pressure switch. While I was at it replaced flow meter and drain pump. Although the old drain pump was working OK the new one runs much quieter. So far, 4 loads washed and no codes! I believe the pressure switch did the job! 

Checked online for videos or comments about the error code for our machine and tried one fix that we thought did the trick, but only worked while the washing machine was empty. More research led us to replacing the water pump through you. Part arrived FAST! My son used the video he'd watched and the enclosed instruction sheets and had it installed in no time. The machine is working better than before. Fantastic experience with you.

Replaced pump assembly as a unit. Easy fix and video was on the website. Momma's happy again! Ordered Sunday night at 6 pm, part arrived Tuesday am, washing clothes by 11. Thanks! 

First checked to see if the lint trap for the drain pump was clogged, but there was very little lint in the trap. Ordered the "washer drain pump assembly" and followed the instructions that came with the new pump. I had also viewed 2 You Tube videos. After unplugging the power, removing the 3 screws on the lower front panel, disconnecting the power cord to the pump and removing the 1 screw to the pump assembly, I was able to pull the pump forward a bit so I could place some towels under the pump to catch water as it starts to come out when you SLOWLY unscrew the lint trap just enough to start a trickle of water. While the water was trickling out I used a shop vac to suck the water up while it was coming out. Used a "screw clamp" to reattach larger hose.
