Suspected a clogged condensation drain line. Took out all the shelves and drawers, condensation unit is toward the bottom of the frdige on inside, I could see that there was ice build up. I unplugged fridge, placed fan in firdge to speed up the thawing of the built up ice. After ice melted enough, I could get face panels and foam off to see that icing caused a backup in drain line, which led to water sitting in trough pan, rusting the trough pan. Replaced the large burner control switches for the ones giving trouble. Since the other two switches had seen as much use as the faulty ones, replaced them too. After putting in new switches, found that one large burner had burned out so replaced it also. Range now cooks as good as new Read more

All parts arrived in one box - I purchased the tub gasket, lower door gasket and lower door seal. My existing parts were visibly pretty worn out, dishwasher is 12 years old (maybe should have just bought anew one?). Tub gasket was pretty easy, it took me a while to make sure it was even all the way around, after attest run and the subsequent drying heat it fits nicely. Planning to spend hundreds on a new washer and was pleased to discover the agitator coupling was the only thing wrong. Very easy repair. The only additional feature we would have liked was a softener dispenser. Located a GE model of the same genre that used the same coupler and took the leap to get the agitator and dispenser cup for this model (WJRR4170). Replaced solenoid valve. Repair summary: Turn off H/C water supply, disconnect hoses. Unscrew 3 screws rear of main panel. Slide front panel laterally then pull up to remove. Unscrew 2 screws on solenoid valve part. Disconnect spade electrical connectors and remove defective part. Insert new part and do everything I just said in reverse. I had to take the control board off the bottom of the cooktop and replace the fan switch. The post that fits into the hand switch had broken off. The new switch cost about $35, it was an exact replacement and the whole repair took less than an hour. My wife is very happy because now she can again use the downdraft fan on the cooktop. • Element will not heat

This repair was on a GE glass Cooktop range. This range has two indicator lights, a Burner On light, and a Hot Cooktop Light. The problem I was having was, the Hot Cooktop stayed on all the time (24x7), even when the cooktop surface had been off for hours and was cold. YouTubes that I viewed were all misleading on this symptom. They all pointed to the switch, which is the fix for the Burner Light staying on, not the Hot Cooktop Light staying on.
