Not the first time my 10 year old dishwasher developed a leak. I have learned that the tub gasket gets dirty and the gasket spring gets weak. Cleaning and if needed replacing that solves the problem. In cleaning the tub gasket this time I notice the bottom door seal had separated from the door. It was originally riveted on. I replaced the slide bearings a few years back. A few months later the rear bearing started to go so I replaced that one. Bad idea. Replace these two at the same time. The wobbling from the rear bearing failure caused accelerated wear on the slide bearings. Without the money to fix it I ran it as it was. Another bad idea. Found the part through appliancepartspros.com The part was the cheapest of several web sites. although shipping for such a small part was steep ($7.95 If I was purchasing bigger parts or heavier parts..the flat rate cost would be a bargain. The part arrived the next day and fit perfectly. In additon; obviously the original manufactured part was not holding up well as the new part had a metal reinforcement band that will prevent the cracking in the future. Read more

First symptoms were squeaking drum. This is probably when new glide strips might have been all that we needed. But I put off fixing it... and I put it off some more. The first symptom was our microwave would continue to run after the time was up. The light would go out, the turn table would stop but you could still hear the microwave running and whatever was in it would continue to cook. The only way to stop it was to open the door. I actually called a repair service in our area. The serviceman asked questions and detected that I didn't need a timer unit but thought it was just a knob that was required. He offered to come out but the expense would be considerable. I am SO relieved that it was indeed the knob, and the dryer was fixed. In this time in our lives, every penny counts.
