The ice dispenser chute door had not been sealing for years. The ice cubes on the lower portion of the ice bin would melt enough eventually to then freeze up into a big, amalgamated blob of ice due to ambient air coming up the chute. Whenever the drawer was opened, it would fall of the guide rails. This lead to the drawer being crooked several times. I took the drawer out and noticed one of the glides was missing. Ordered a new pair, popped it on and now the drawer slides properly. Read more

I replaced the driveshaft and the latch on the ice bin as well as the washer that prevents moisture and water from getting down the driveshaft and into the motor. It was an easy job, especially with the video. Read more

Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap. I also found a video on the internet that clearly showed the procedure. The actual repairs took 15 minutes or less. I found several "threads" on my google search which indicated that it might be caused by a non-functional condenser fan. I removed the back bottom panel and voila, the fan was not spinning even though the compressor was running and felt very hot. I had to remove a metal panel at the bottom back of the freezer as well as a couple of shelf slides in order to get at a drain pan in the back. It was frozen solid, so I stabbed at it with an ice pick until I broke through, followed up by poking a coat hanger in the drain hole to clear as much as I could, then poured a little boiling water over it to follow up. We actually were able to determine that one of the freezer switches was bad and taped it down for about 3 days. The beeping stopped. Our fridge has two freezer switches and one fridge side switch. I ordered all three from these guys. They were cheaper than Whirlpool by about $20 for parts and about $15 for shipping.
