Tried bending the strike to get a firmer grip, but no luck. Replaced the door latch and strike. Washer is about ten years old. You can feel the new catch has a more positive engagement. When you replace the strike, be sure not to tilt it downward in front. It will go in the way but it will keep the door from closing. Not sure I needed to replace the strike but didn't want to risk more downtime. Read more

Removed bottom cover, located leak at float switch, removed and replaced float switch kit. The toughest part of the repair was removing the Float & Retainer Assembly (in the interior of the machine tank) which broke when I pushed it back and pulled it straight up as suggested in the service manual. We scoured the web and there are few references to this so I want to add it in case it helps. Replacing hinges solved the popping opening issue. We could not solve our dishwasher door issue after a number of other tries: Latch, Catch, Ropes that attach to the springs that pull the door closed. I tend to believe the solve could be different b/c all these things work together. But for us, we were skeptical that the hinge swap would work and we were very pleasantly surprised. Read more

I had no hope of separating the panel from the frame without damaging the frame since the two parts were rusted pretty badly and the screws holding the panel to the frame were completely beyond salvage. So I had to replace both the panel and the frame. I ended up removing the electrical/electronic connections, removing the panel/frame from the hinge and then replacing it with the new parts. I reviewed the schematic and saw the Volute Seal, and Impeller Seal were the two that were closest my source of water. After watching the video about changing the Impeller/seal I removed the motor, impeller, and volute; I found that the impeller seal was the faulty one in my case.
