Causes of a bad control board can include electrical surges, moisture exposure, or general wear and tear. These factors can lead to failures in the electronic components or connections within the board.

Symptoms of a bad Main Control Board include:

  • The dishwasher not starting or completing cycles
  • Error codes displayed on the control panel
  • Inconsistent or malfunctioning cycle operations
  • The dishwasher becoming unresponsive to control inputs

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Main Control Board (Part Number: OEM18981690)

1 Answer

Jean, If there are no keys that are flashing on the dishwasher then the control board would most likely be the cause for the unit to come on by itself.

Jeff, With the display not working and the keypad not working, this issue would most likely be caused by a faulty control board. The display and keypad are on different circuits of the control board.

Hello Myrcee. Check the door switches and all the wiring connections and make sure they are good. If so, then it leaves the control panel 154639208 on the unit.

Ed, The ER clean S is an error code that is caused by a keypad that is faulty. You will want to replace the control panel 154791806 on the unit and if this does not correct then replace the control board 5304514670.

Our dishwasher doesn't drain at the end of the wash cycle. It drains fine during the cycle. After the unit stops it doesn't say clean, I open the door and see some water left in dishwasher. I close the door and the pump kicks on and totally drains it in no time. The dishes are clean. I have cleaned the screens and the drain line is clear. Sometimes at the end of the cycle the water has drained but still never says clean like it used to. It is about a year old any ideas?

1 Answer

Hello Roy, This is normally caused by a weak drain pump A00126401 or a gradual clogging of the drain line with grease and small debris. The turbity sensor 154762601 should be cleaned and/or replaced.

Hi, with this dishwasher, the unit had shut itself off during the drain cycle and came back with a PF code, so I replaced the drain pump. It now sometimes makes it through a drain cycle, but not every time. I had seen a uF (vent fan speed) error code, but I ran the unit pulled out from under the counter and I could see the fan was operating seemingly fine. There was also one time after a successful cycle that simply opening the door led to the unit shutting down and coming back up with a PF code. That all leads me to believe it's the control board, but I'd like some feedback that it is the next best thing to try. Thanks!

Hello A.J., The first thing I always do on a PF code is to turn power off to the unit and remove the kickpanel. Open the power connection box on the left behind where the kickpanel was mounted. Check for loose connections in this junction box. You need to think of it like this: When there is a loose connection, this increases the resistance at that point. This cause more current to be required to get across the loose connection. When the high current gets across the point of high resistance, this current normally opens the breaker or the thermal fuse, (if the unit is so equipped). After all connections in the circuit have been verified, (to include connections to the breaker and any junction points between it and the unit), and no problems have been located, replace the board. If the board is replaced without checking the above, the new board could be toasted as soon as power is applied.

Hi, I've seen a few different failure types and am hoping to narrow in on the right solution without having to guess too much. The initial problem seemed to be the dishwasher would just shut off during a cycle. When running the service test, it happened to be during Step 7. The drain pump sounded a little rough, I replaced it, and it made it to Step 8 but then failed with the uF code (Fan failure). I pulled the unit out, and re-ran test, and it made it all the way through. The fan was operational, and the vent was clean. I opened the door and I got an immediate PF code. I then pushed it back under the counter and the service test failed again in Step 7, no error code, just a power failure, with the PF coming on about 5 seconds later. Could the problem be with the fan? Control Board? Something else? Supply voltage was about 116.5 Volts. Nothing else looks obviously corroded or worn. Unit is about 7 years old. Thanks!

AJ, With getting an error code in 2 different settings the most likely cause for the failure would be a faulty control board 5304514670.

Jeff P for Model Number Frigidaire dishwasher Model #FGHD2465NF1A 2 years old

Dishwasher had not been used in 3 days. It was trying to run itself in the rinse cycle. The Er light is flashing, the drying, washing and Surge light is flashing and a S is flashing. I have disconnected and re-connected the power, is has not helped. Do you know what is wrong with the dishwasher and what is a good price to repair it? It is my understanding the Control Board may be bad. Part #154886103. This part cost $120.39. Thank you, Jeff

1 Answer

Jeff, The error code ER represents that there has been a membrane switch failure. You will want to do the following to determine if it is the control board or the touch pad. Main Control Board has detected a stuck key or a key pressed for more than one minute. Check connection from keypad to Main Control Board. If correct, replace keypad. If error still exist, replace Main Control Board. (Note: washing, drying, and clean s may appear in display when error code is present),

Scott, With the clean light staying on after the wash cycle, this is due to door not being open. Once the door is open the light should go off. If it does not then the issue would be in the control board as opposed to the door switches since it will wash.
