The Electrical Control is an OEM part compatible with Frigidaire upright freezers. As the primary processing board, it monitors all freezer functions including temperature, fans, lighting, and door sensors. A faulty control compromises dependability.

Symptoms of a bad control include:

  • Inconsistent or fluctuating interior temperatures
  • Failure of lights or other electrical accessories
  • Poor fan or defrost performance issues
  • Error codes displayed on control panels

Causes can be water intrusion disrupting circuits, dust buildup over many years of operation, or typical wear over time.

This Frigidaire OEM part fits Electrolux, Gibson, Danby and select Kenmore models for a factory-accurate replacement that preserves reliability.

Steele, It sounds like the control may be locked. Press and hold the alarm button for 3 seconds and see if you can change the temps.

Guillermo, Yes, this issue does sound like it would be caused by a faulty control board. Sounds like the units control stuck in a defrost mode.

Aloha- My freezer was not cold enough & things were began to defrost. I removed back panel...the evaporator fan is working but, there was a lot of ice build-up on the coil. I used a hair dryer & got that taken care of. Restarted unit...it seems to be colder but, the compressor is running constantly. I tried to lower the temperature on the control unit to see if the compressor would shut off but, no luck. Also, the control would not go down to zero. I have ordered a new control unit from you & hope that it is the problem. Any advice or suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated! Mahalo (Thanks) -L

Hello Leigh. The unit will not shut off until it reaches the correct temp. If the temp is correct, it could be the board. As for the frost on the coils, you need to check for a defrost issue on the unit.

Jack, The most likely cause for the unit operating properly but not getting down to the proper temperature would be a faulty thermistor. If the thermistor is out of tolerance then it will cause the unit to cycle off even if the temp is only 10 degrees. Also make sure that the cabinet has room to breath as this could trap heat in the system and cause the same issue.

Hello Rick. Yes, it is easy to replace. Disconnect the power. The control board 297370602 unsnaps from the front of the door panel on the unit.

Control on freezer show Hi Temp and freezer does not get cold. Compressor comes on and runs forever but no cold or ice forming on evaporator. Thermistor checks within range at "32" degrees when frozen in water in my other refrigerator freezer. Compressor 3 terminal pins check correct with on at 4 and one at 8 with the other totaling 12 and none of the terminals to ground show short. This freezer was given to me and owner says it a couple years old. It looks like brand new inside and out and was kept indoors. Should I purchase a control panel and see if that's it. Oh, the relay starter is fine, I say that because it does start the compressor. I not sure about the controller since the compressor is coming on. Thanks, Warren

Hello Warren, This can only be one of three things: A sealed system restriction, an inefficient compressor, or a Freon loss. In any case, the sealed system requires a Freon authorized technician to perform the repair.

Matt for Model Number 253.28432803

We purchased this freezer about three weeks ago used. It is in our attached garage and temps have been getting down into the teens outside (garage is not heated but it is above freezing inside the garage). Anyway, there was what seemed to be a backwards lowercase L on the display or the display was only half working. I unplugged the unit and let it sit overnight. Went back to the garage the next morning plugged it in and the freezer wouldn't start, but the control panel was clicking very fast and the high temp and door ajar lights were flashing very fast in sync with the clicking. So I pulled the electronic control panel out and brought it in the house to warm it up for about 2 hours. went back out reconnected it and plugged the freezer in. To my surprise the freezer operated as normal. Is the problem we are having indicative of a bad control panel, or does this freezer need to be in a warmer environment to operate? I have had freezers in the garage before with no issue. Please Help!

1 Answer

Hello Matt. It could have been a connection issue. If the problem starts again, replace the control board.

Michael for Model Number 25328432802

Hi, Folks; This freezer is driving me crazy! Three months ago we were having "brown Outs" and it shut off and defrosted. I unplugged it for a while and it came back on a worked fine for two months. It then shut off and had a strange symbol on the control panel.I un-plugged it again , it reset and worked for two days.Went off again and had nothing on the display. Reset. Worked one day, went out, had a 6. on the display. Reset, had an 8. on the display. Reset, started working with the normal 3 on the display. It ran for a few hours, the compressor shut off and it still had the 3 on the display. I thought it was working, but later that day I realized it had not been running all day. Checked the temp and it was+23. Reset it and the display had nothing. Reset, it started working with the 3 on display. I'm thinking control panel, What do you think? Thanks!
