The Electrical Control is an OEM part compatible with Frigidaire upright freezers. As the primary processing board, it monitors all freezer functions including temperature, fans, lighting, and door sensors. A faulty control compromises dependability.

Symptoms of a bad control include:

  • Inconsistent or fluctuating interior temperatures
  • Failure of lights or other electrical accessories
  • Poor fan or defrost performance issues
  • Error codes displayed on control panels

Causes can be water intrusion disrupting circuits, dust buildup over many years of operation, or typical wear over time.

This Frigidaire OEM part fits Electrolux, Gibson, Danby and select Kenmore models for a factory-accurate replacement that preserves reliability.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Electrical Control (Part Number: OEM15920400)

Robert, Check to see if there is power getting to the start device and if there is power then the issue will be a faulty start device. If there is no power check the wiring coming into the door.

Jackers, Unfortunately without having a wiring diagram for the 297370602 to determine if the wiring would be the same we could not say that this will work in place of your original part.

Mike J for Model Number 25328442801

I replaced the control panel a few years ago when it went out. After that it worked fine until now. Now it won't bring the temperature down to freezing The lowest it gets is between 38 and 45 degrees F. I have tried unplugging the power cord for a few minutes and then plugging it back in no success on that. The compressor is running all the time without bringing it down. I am thinking that it might be the control panel again. Any ideas. Thank You.

Mike, It would be recommended to check to see if there is either a defrost issue or a sealed system issue. The way to determine this would be to remove the rear panel inside the freezer and check the frost pattern of the evaporator coils. If the coils are impacted with ice then test the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity and if there is no continuity it is bad. If there is continuity then the issue will be a faulty control. If there is very little ice mainly toward the top of the evaporator coils then this will be a sealed system issue in which you will need to have service tech. The frost pattern should be a full even frost from top to bottom.

Debra, You will want to check to see if the compressor is coming on the unit. It is possible that the start relay has failed if the compressor is not running and would need replaced. If the compressor is running then you need to check the evaporator coils to see if there is a frost pattern. If there is a even frost pattern top to bottom then it is ok and if no frost pattern then would likely be a sealed system issue. If the temperature is dropping to 0 degrees it is possible that the unit is just not turning on. The other thing would be to see if the fan is running. If the fan is not running test to see if there is power getting to the fan. If there is power to the fan but not running then need a new fan. If there is no power to the fan and does not seem to come on then the issue would likely be the control board if the fan does not run at all.

Hello Longnguyen, Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and slip a small screwdriver under the bottom of the edge of the control and it will slip out. Plug the new part in and plug the unit back in and the job is complete.

Chuck for Model Number Kenmore 253.28432809 Stand up Freezer

I think our stand up freezer gave out from some recent power outages in the area, but it's only 1.5 years old. Everything inside has thawed and we don't hear the unit turn on any longer. What I can assess: there is no frost over the coils. Unplugging/re-plugging into other outlets still gives power to the unit although on the front control panel, instead of numbers it displays gibberish when pressing the up and down arrows (they look like broken analog numbers, possibly letters?) Does this indicate a bad control panel as the main culprit? The replacement looks like it will take 10 seconds, but I'd like to be as sure as I can that will fix our freezer by itself before spending ~$80 on the panel only to find it still does not work. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello Joanne. The control board just unsnaps off the door. Use a flat blade and pry it off the outer door.
