Chote, Presumably, you mean the refrigerator is freezing the food and vegetables. First check and make sure both doors are closing and sealing, and the controls for the freezer and refrigerator are set at the mid range setting on the control panel. Check and make sure there are no large bulky items on the left side of the top shelf, that can direct the cold air down the back of the refrigerator and cause the crispers to freeze. Check all the shelves, make sure there aren't any articles hanging over the edges of the shelves or laying against the back or side walls. Then check the damper in the top left rear corner of the refrigerator. If the damper is stuck open, the refrigerator will get too cold and freeze the articles.

Keith, With this unit, the only thing that could cause the unit to get too cold both sections would be a faulty thermostat part number 5303305486.

James, You will want to check the door seals to make sure that the unit is getting a good door seal all the way around. In most cases this would be the issue if the temperatures are correct. If this checks ok then the thermostat would be the issue.

Bob, Based on the description of the issue, it would most likely be the cold control that has failed and would need to be replaced.

Bill, In a lot of cases the reason for the refrigerator to trip the breaker would be a high amp draw on the compressor. You will want to test the amp draw and if it is above 8-9 amps then you will want to check the relay to make sure that it is not bad. You can normally take it off and shake it and if it rattles then the relay is faulty but normally it is a compressor that is faulty.

Mark for Model Number FRT21NRFW0

Freezer only gets down to 28 degrees, fridge to 45 degrees, and that's with both the freezer and fridge controls set to max, which didn't used to be the case. Replaced defrost timer and defrost thermostat last night. Same result. Defrost timer cycles just fine. No dust on the condenser. Freezer isn't frozen up so heater seems to work fine as well. No frost build up. Considering changing the temp controller, but don't want to pour good money after bad. Bought new around 2002. It just doesn't get cold enough. I live in So cal and the weather is very mild, around 70 degrees each day now so no temperature extremes. Thanks a million.

Hello Mark. You need to make sure the coils are clean and the fan motors are good on the unit. If so, need a sealed system repair and will need an HVAC tech to repair the unit.

Hello Barry, You may want to check to see if there is frost build up on the back wall of the freezer compartment and see if the evaporator fan motor is blowing. Remove the rear wall of freezer compartment and look for impacted evaporator coils. If coils are impacted check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity. If either component does not have continuity then that component would have to be replaced. If both check ok then you would want to replace the defrost timer or ADC, which ever one yours has. Also check to see if the evaporator motor is running. If not running then check to make sure that you are getting 120 vac to the fan motor. If you are getting 120 vac to the fan motor but the fan is not turning then you need to replace the fan motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
