For Frigidaire Control - Temperature (Part Number: OEM6341517)

Josh for Model Number LFFH1467DW3

Hello, One morning as I entered the garage I heard a loud buzzing coming from my upright freezer. There was a read light on. This light is located at the bottom right of the unit. Next to the the red light is a switch. I flipped the switch and the buzzing stopped but the red light stayed on. That next day I check the freezer and the temp was 10 degrees which is higher than it normally ran. I cranked up the temp control to max cold but nothing's changed. Any thoughts?

Josh, You will want to check the evaporator coils to make sure that the coils are not impacted with ice. If they are then this would be a defrost system error and you will want to test the heater and the defrost thermostat to make sure that they have continuity. If not then the part is bad. If these check ok but evaporator is impacted with ice then the defrost timer is faulty. If the coils are not impacted and have a nice even frost pattern then the issue will most likely be caused by the sensor assembly 5308037992.

I just orderd a temperature control thermostat and its not the same as the original...there are 3 wires I have to plug into the thermostat...I know one green wire plugs in at the top...but since this part is different than the original...the two male ends are located left side of the component and they are side by side instead of next two each other...so now I don't know if the blue wire connects in the front or the back....or if the black wire connects to the front male end or the back...please I need some help.....its the only thing holding me back from putting my freezer back to gether

James, With a thermostat it will not matter which wire goes on which location as they are just passing the power through the thermostat.

Charles, This issue sounds like it would be caused by a faulty control board. It sounds as if though the unit is going into the defrost cycle and not coming out of the defrost. To correct this issue you would want to replace the Adaptive defrost control 5303918476.

Hello Joe, Ice cream will not freeze solid until it gets down to below 15°F. Since you are freezing but not getting down to 15°F, you either have an air circulation issue or a sealed system issue. The water in the bottom of the unit is probably from a frozen defrost drain. This can be thawed out with a hair dryer after the removal of the back wall. While you're in there, you can check for a blockage of air flow through the coils from a frost build-up. once the drain is cleared, chase it with a length of weedeater line. It will not puncture the rubber hose used in the system. If there is no frost build-up, try pulling the unit out from the wall far enough to give 4 inches or more between the condenser coils on the back of the unit and the wall. Make sure there is room for air to circulate around the unit and the inside of the unit should have room for the air to circulate also. Items in plastic bags should have any excess wrapped around them and not just sticking up as this will interfere with air flow also.

Scott, If the relay on the compressor is clicking but the compressor does not start then the compressor has locked up and would need to be replaced.

Ralph, When you turn the dial it should turn one direction of on and one direction for off. When the dial clicks then stops this is the off position. When you turn the opposite direction it should turn the unit on and if you go until it stops then that is the coldest setting. There should be a raised area next to the numbers that will tell you what number it should be set at.

Hello Kevin, To test defrost timer do a continuity check between the 2 wires. Check it when it is cold and you should have continuity.

Hello Walt, The thermostat could be bad, but 0°F is perfect for the freezer with an ice maker. I would first pull the kick plate off and vacuum the coils. If you cannot access them from the front, pull the unit out and remove the bottom rear cover and vacuum them from there. Most of the time when a unit runs continuously, it is having problems dissipating the heat it has removed from inside the unit back into the room. While you're back there you need to make sure the condenser fan is running.
