Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Ice Container Assembly (Part Number: OEM12902763)

Bob, When "cubed" ice is selected and the paddle pressed, the shift solenoid activates, lifts the shifter arm on the side of the ice bin and opens the flapper door on the bottom front of the ice bin and the cubes fall through the chopper blades and the cubes fall into the glass. You'll need to remove the ice bin and check the shifter arm and door for manual operation. You should be able to check the solenoid, yoke, and movement to make sure the solenoid operates(you can also tape the freezer door switch closed, select cubed ice and press the lever and watch the solenoid operate. If all's OK, make sure the end of the shifter arm is inserted into the solenoid yoke properly, so the shifter arm moves properly and activates the flapper door in the front of the ice bin.

Cheryl for Model Number Frigidaire FRS26ZTH

The thing just quit making ice altogether. I get water out the door so I know water is flowing. I don't know if it's the ice maker itself or something else. I took the ice bucket out and broke it trying to get it back in so if I can get it working again, I have to buy a new bucket. I don't know if it's worth it to try to fix it or not and don't want to buy a part that ends up being useless. Any ideas? We're talking a unit that's about 22-23 years old..

Cheryl, You would want to check to see if there is 120 vac getting to the water valve that supplies the icemaker. The water in the door could work and still have a valve issue because it is a dual valve. You would want to cycle the icemaker and test at the valve for 120 vac when the icemaker calls for water. If there is 120 vac then the valve is faulty and if there is not 120 vac then the icemaker is faulty.

Jen, there is a solenoid that engages the arm on the ice container when you call for cubed ice. If you will remove the bin and look at the back where the arm goes into the back of the freezer section, there is a solenoid the is supposed to pull the arm of the bin up for cubed ice, if it is not working, it will never give you anything but crushed ice.

Wayne, Most of the time you will find that another issue in the crusher housing is causing this and the whole assembly would need to be replaced. 241860803

Dianne, Yes, the five crusher blades and spacers are available as replacement parts. You will need to remove the crusher housing and check for loose and worn spacers, the flapper door and linkage for damage and excess play or movement in the auger shaft and drive hub. The attached video should be helpful, Just remember to label the spacers and crusher blades as you remove them, so you8 get them back in properly. Carol, Probably not, The cubed and crushed ice is controlled by a solenoid 241675704 in the back bracket behind the ice bin. When cubed ice is selected, the solenoid is energized and lifts the shifter arm on the side of the ice bin, this opens the dispenser door on the bottom of the ice bin front panel and allows the cubes to fall through the mandi plate without being crushed. when crushed ice is selected, the solenoid stays relaxed, the cubes are pushed forward into the mandiplate, and because the flipper door remains closed the cubes are chopped up/crushed and fall though the smaller opening. A quick easy check, open the door and remove the ice bin, select cubed ice, press in on the door switch and press the lever, you should hear and see the solenoid activate and raise. select crushed ice, press the light switch then press the lever, you should see the solenoid remain in the down position and just the auger motor should turn. manually operate the shift lever on the side of the bin, and make sure it moves freely and the door on the front panel opens and closes. If all's OK make sure the end of the shift lever is installed in the solenoid yoke properly.

Ralph C for Model Number FRS3HR5JW2

I purchased this part just a few months ago because our original ice tray/dispenser broke where the front shaft meets the round area that turns the ice through to the outside. Now this one that I have purchased has done the same thing. It broke into in the exact area. Is there a better product that I need to purchase and is the one I purchased a few months ago under any warranty? Please let me know what my options are. Thanks so much. Cornel Leslie
