Mitch February 23, 2020 for Model Number GLHS35EHSB4 The freezer and the fridge compartments are both not getting cold. I tested the compressor, the 241524605 starter, and the attached capacitor and those parts all seem to be ok. When I plug the refrigerator into the outlet, I initially hear a grinding noise inside the fridge compartment and it's coming from the top left side right behind the temperature controls. After about 30 seconds or so after plugging the refrigerator in, the grinding noise stops. The fridge compartment temperature blinks continuously the number 4, what does this mean? I tried setting the temperature for the fridge compartment and I'm able to set it to 33 degreess, but after a few moments it goes back to blinking the number 4 again. Does this mean I should I replace the Pur-Beta Control AP5656814?
1 Answer Mitch, the grinding noise would be coming from the damper 241600906 (Note: Damper Control w/ one switch, if you need a Damper Control with two switches, order part# 241600902). The damper failing could cause the unit to flash the error 4 and not allow the unit to cool. However, another issue could be the control. The control can be tested by pressing and holding the freezer up key while pressing the freezer down key 3 times quickly. As soon as the freezer down key is pressed for the 3rd time, release the freezer up key. As soon as the input is recognized, the number 1 will show and the fresh food down key will need to be pressed once. If the fresh food display flashes 1 and 1, the control 241739709 has an old program that would need to be replaced. If the display flashes 1 then 2, the programming is current and replacing the grinding damper would most likely be the only necessary repair. If the damper has inadvertently shorted out, it could have impacted the control. Read More...
Jorge April 14, 2019 for Model Number GLHS68EGPB2 My refrigerator keeps running all the time. The temperatures are set at 4 degrees and 38 degrees? Seldom the freezer temperature increases to 22-28 degrees fridge side increases to 48-68 and eventually settles to set temperature. Can you pinpoint the problem?
1 Answer Jorge, you will want to check the condenser coils to ensure that there is proper air flow to help cool the condenser coils and compressor. From there, you may want to check the air flow inside of the refrigerator to ensure that air flow is allowed to flow properly. If the air duct or return vent is blocked, then this will prevent proper air flow causing the refrigerator to take much longer to cool properly. The last thing to check for would be any oil residue on the evaporator, condenser coils, compressor, and then checking the operation efficiency of the compressor. Read More...
Jamie September 25, 2015 for Model Number PHS66EJSB0 Refrigerator is not running and temp lights are off.
1 Answer Hello Jamie. Test for power to the beta board. If it is there, and the board does not work, you will need to replace the board 241739709. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
K.P. July 18, 2015 for Model Number PHS66EJSB0 The freezer coil is freezing up, it takes almost two weeks to completely ice over. I've replaced the control board, heater-defrost and defrost thermostat. Not sure what else to do. I'm defrosting by unplugging and leaving the freezer door open, once a week but it's not practical. It takes about 5 hours for the coil to completely thaw out. When it runs, it seems to run fine although every once in a while, I notice the freezer temperature reading completely off. I set it at 6 and sometimes it reads in the minus. Thanks
1 Answer Hello K.P., I would first check for poor electrical connections at the defrost thermostat, (common issue in the freezer compartment due to moisture causing corrosion on connections). To prevent this from occurring, after installing the defrost thermostat with either wire nuts or crimp connectors, put a bit of grease into the end of the connectors anywhere moisture could get to the connections. This repels moisture and keeps the connections free of corrosion. If this doesn't correct the issue, I would call in and have a new control shipped under the part warranty since this could easily be a control issue. There is a remote possibility of it being a wiring harness issue but this is a less common occurrence. Read More...
Chris May 14, 2015 for Model Number GLHS37EHSB6 Getting three beeps intermittently during the day. This morning temperature was 25° in freezer and 64° in the fresh food side. Frost buildup on lower panel in freezer. Defrost circuit not working?
1 Answer Hello Chris, This will be the beta control 241739709 and/or the damper assembly 241600906. Read More...
Toddb November 25, 2014 for Model Number glhs37ehsb6 The freezer coils are freezing up. I have to tear apart and thaw out. I replaced the thermostat. Still does it. the defrost heater has continuity. I ordered the new wiring harness and defrost brain box but its not the right one...this doesnt even have one! is the timer built into the digital display?
Billy L. October 05, 2014 for Model Number PLHS68EESBA My freezer is not keeping things frozen, and there is a build up of ice in the back in one spot like a circle clump of ice. It makes ice and keeps that ok but won't freeze ice cream or keep meet completely frozen. I have replaced some parts before cause it was frosting up in the back of freezer and not cooling the refrigerator side. I replaced the thermostat in freezer, capacitor, starter, heater coil in freezer, and it worked for a bit but then is started to not freeze again as much. The refrigerator side stays constant at setting but freezer side seems to change temperature pretty fast, sometimes from 1 to 19 degrees or more. I don't think this model has a adaptive control board so I'm thinking its built in to the temperature control panel. Can you help me?
1 Answer Hello Billy, The "ice ball" in the back is an indication of a Freon loss. You should contact a Freon authorized technician to take some pressure readings on the high and low sides of the sealed system and check for leaks. Read More...
Nickyv August 23, 2014 for Model Number GLHS36EEW2 Both fridge and freezer are not working. The panel that controls fridge and freezer isn't lit up and I can't adjust temperatures. It's blowing in the freezer but not cold.
1 Answer Nicky, With there being no display and there being any cooling, the issue with the unit would be in the beta control board 241739709. Read More...
Andrea March 16, 2014 for Model Number GLHS65EHW6 Our 8 year old Frigidaire refrigerator freezer registers -17 then refrigerator temp. will begin to go up I guess because it's freezing up. The appliance guy replaced the control box twice (thinking the first one may have been deficient) and every other part he could think of that could be causing this problem. He checked compressor and fan and they are working. After 5 trips to our house it is still happening. I'm about to call him again and would like to know your ideas about this problem so that maybe it will help him. He is frustrated as are we. Could something have gotten knocked loose when I vacuumed underneath a couple of months ago. He doesn't seem to think so. Need all the help we can get. Thanks so much!
1 Answer Andrea, The vacuuming of the unit would not have caused the issue that you are having. With this issue it sounds like either the thermistors for the unit are faulty or the damper door is getting stuck closed and not opening properly. This would be the most likely scenario of the damper door sticking and not allowing the cold air into the refrigerator compartment. Read More...
Jack D March 11, 2014 for Model Number PLHS39EESS2 Our freezer would not freeze and the refrigerator would not keep items cool. We were told it needed a Pur-Beta Control. We have had 3 parts and none of them would fit. The latest one #241739709 still won't fit and the repair man seems to think it is upside down. Another part # PS6012234 had the same problem. Thank you
1 Answer Jack, The 241739709 241739709, is the correct control part for the model number you supplied. There may be a need to order and install a new wire harness " If Connection Is Different Order 241737801 Harness 241737801". This is most likely where the issue is. Thanks Read More...
